Agenza are working with the successful contractor who has secured a National Electrification Framework, focusing on the North of England, and are seeking to recruit expert professionals to support our existing team. For this framework they are working with Network Rail and other partners in an Alliance that foresee operating for the next five years at least.|
This is referred to as the North West Electrification Programme (NWEP).
We are currently recruiting a senior planning manager to be based in Manchester. This will be managing a large team and ensuring that the Planning community has the correct skills, process and governance to deliver successfully by developing, deploying and embedding planning processes, standards & tools and ensuring they are consistently used across the project portfolio.
What you'll be doing
The suitable candidate will:
Develop, deploy, embed and continually improve the standards, processes and procedures, with specific focus on planning and dependency management.
Drive deployment and usage of planning standards across programmes and projects, providing training, coaching and support.
Responsible for the professional development and accreditation of Planners (Mentoring/coaching/annual appraisal)
Ensure that project plans are compliant with planning standards, create and manage corrective action plans to resolve any inconsistencies. Agree and manage KPIs to effectively report this.
Creation and management of critical issue resolution plans (may involve direct liaison with senior management or client).
Working pro actively across the planning community to effectively contribute to and influence best practice and planning process improvement.
Develop, deploy, embed and improve the use of planning tools and provide a 'centre of excellence' for planning processes, providing advice, guidance, challenge and support for the planning group.
Ensure planning processes are linked effectively with other processes e.g. dependency management, resource management, cost management, risk management, benefits management, change control and reporting.
Monitor and report progress against programme and project schedules, highlighting and analysing variances / exceptions from baselines.
Accountable for the line management of the planning team. (& potentially a Resource Administrator if one is hired)
Provide a capacity planning and resource tracking service across a portfolio of projects and programmes highlighting potential bottlenecks and engaging with functional teams to provide resolution.
Forecast future resource needs, based on portfolio / programme / project plans, close liaison with the relevant managers and (where appropriate) wider business plans and business unit objectives.
Provide a view of commitments (of portfolio, programme or project staff) on other programmes / projects and / or on Business as Usual activities that will impact the ability of a portfolio, programme or project to deliver. (e.g. Tenders or non UK projects for example)
Provide the capability to quickly and accurately produce scenario models and conduct impact analysis
Regularly report all relevant capacity and resource information effectively to business stakeholders using a standard agreed format.
Who we're looking for
The successful candidate will have had experience with:
Programme and project planner roles, using Primavera Enterprise tool in a matrix environment.
Management and analysis of risks, issues, dependencies.
Project and programme reporting to external clients.
Implementation of secondary planning tools (e.g. MSP) or similar.
Working experience of structured project management methodologies, e.g. Prince 2, APM, PMI.
Extensive and demonstrable experience of implementing an effective resource management function
Salaried up to £75000
39 hours per week
