Senior QS / Managing Quantity Surveyor - Building / Construction - Birmingham


To be considered for this Quantity Surveyor role you must meet the following criteria:

- Knowledge of Building Sector.
- Previous employment as a QS, Quantity Surveyor, Project Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor.
- Previous experience in private building sector projects such as Commercial, Education, Healthcare, Mixed Use, Apartment Blocks, Student Accommodation, Hotels, Extra Care Housing or Industrial.
- Previous Main Contractor employment.
-Demonstrable practical and logical qualities and a methodical way of thinking.
-Proven creative and innovative Problem Solving Skills
- Strong numeracy and financial management skills and the ability to learn sophisticated design and costing IT packages.
-Established ability to write clear and precise reports and to relate complex information in a simple way to a diverse range of people.
-Robust negotiating and team-working skills and the ability to motivate and lead those on site.
-Detailed knowledge of past and current building and construction technology, business and legal matters
- High level of communication skills.
- Relevant industry qualification (Degree / HND / HNC etc).


It's the responsibility of the Quantity Surveyor to undertake a full range of pre and post contract quantity surveying services including project management for complex projects. The role also encompasses the assistance in the development, implementation and monitoring and the building construction and maintenance framework agreements.
This role will also include leading and supporting the development of more just surveyors, so strong leadership skills are essential.

Key Accountabilities:

•Prepare Bills of Quantities, Schedule of Works, Specifications and all contract documentation, ensuring that these comply with the project brief and timescale, budget estimates, all relevant legislation, regulation and policies.
•Prepare specifications and contract documentation in conjunction with Projects.
•Manage designated projects and act as a lead contact working closing with, and advising a wide range of internal staff and external Clients and contractors to ensure a smooth and timely progress of projects and also ensure compliance with all necessary legislation and other requirements.
•Prepare preliminary estimates, cost plans, etc. Including advising Clients on economical construction methods, procurement etc. to enable accurate costs to be advised.
•Selection, procurement, management, and settlement of all sub contractors packages.
•To provide regular feedback to the Commercial Director.
