A Senior Quantity Surveyor is required to join a Tier one Principal Contractor to join their team in Bristol.|
Filton Abbey Wood - 4 Track Capacity Improvement (Bristol)
Filton Abbey Wood - 4 Track Capacity Improvement is a design and build project to undertake installation of 15 km of track renewal, upgrading 17 existing railway structures including 4 bridge reconstructions for electrification clearance and upgrade to two stations in order to improve capacity of the local network for Network Rail Infrastructure Limited. Overall value is circa £30m over a 2.5 year design and construction period commencing October 2014.
The civil works involve bridge demolition, piling and soil nailing, embankment and cutting stabilisation earthworks, and construction of a new road and foot bridges. The project also involves platform extensions and upgrades including M&E works, CIS, CCTV, PA help points and external lighting. The rail works include replacement track bed, track drainage, track and the diversion of rail side communications GSMR Masts and cables.
With the varied scope come a number of challenges including approval of design and interfaces with the numerous work packages. The contract will be Network Rail 12 (NR Amendments to ICC Target Cost Version (August 2011))
Project is currently undergoing major scope changes that will include OLE civils, signal bases and troughing which will increase the complexity and value of the contract significantly
The candidate will be initially involved in procurement and overseeing of the newly instructed OLE Civils works.
Project Offices will be based on site in Bristol.
As Senior Quantity Surveyor your responsibilities will be:
Maintain subcontract procurement schedule
Procurement of key subcontract packages
Management of key subcontract packages
Ensuring necessary main contract notices are issued on time
Administration and valuation of Change Orders & requests
Input into financial reports including budgets / forecast for project management
Input into cost report and cash flow information for Network Rail
Supervising and training of other commercial staff
Provide commercial advise to other team members
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Member of / actively working towards membership of appropriate professional body
Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor working for a main contractor
Experience of NR 12 contract and NR processes would be beneficial, although experience of Target Cost contracts in a similar environment would be acceptable
In additional to general civils background, rail and structures experience would be essential
Experience of using COINS would be beneficial
Relevant degree in Commercial Management / Quantity Surveying.
