Our client is a specialist ground engineering company with contracts throughout the UK. They are a growing company with expected turnover in the region of £8-10 million, who values not only their clients but more importantly, their employees.

The nature of the business include earthworks, retaining structures, dynamic compaction, soil stabilisation, wick drainage, stone columns, soil remediation and materials reprocessing.

The successful applicant will be working as part of a team; however they will be expected to manage their own workload in order to aid the efficiency of the rest of the team. Previous experience with an earthworks sub-contractor is preferred.

As you will be liaising with the client on a regular basis you will be expected to represent the company in a professional manner at all times. Some on-site work will be required with the remainder of works being office/home based.

Due to a period of sustained expansion we are actively recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to permanently position. Ideally the successful applicant will be based within the Midlands area and be prepared to travel to the sites throughout the UK.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record within the construction industry as a Quantity Surveyor, be currently employed by a reputable construction contractor and previous experience of working for an earthworks sub-contractor (desirable).

Duties include:

Preparing tender and contract documents, including Bill of Quantities
Undertake cost analysis
Perform risk, value management and cost control
Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks
Allocating work to sub-contractors
Providing advice on contractual claims
Valuing completed work and arranging payments
Responsible for 2-5 sites (£10,000-£2.0m)
Report to Directors

Full driving licence

Experience of working for construction main / sub contractors is essential.

Excellent communication skills will be essential as you will be liaising with Clients, Consultants, sub-contractors and senior management.
