Multi-skilled Installation Engineer

Reporting to: Managing Director, Oakley EMS ( part of GTO Engineering)

An apprentice trained multi-skilled engineer to work on customer sites as required providing project installation and maintenance services. -This could range from the installation of roller conveyor systems in warehouse or factory environments to fabrication work on sites where new layouts and alterations are required.

- Liaising with the MD on the project plans and reporting progress of projects
- Conduct risk assessment prior to project/ maintenance work and ensure conclusions are implemented prior to start of work to remove hazards
- Preventative maintenance on machines and equipment as required by Oakley's customers
-Responding to emergency machine break downs at Oakley's customers
- Involvement with new design, installation and movements of customer's equipment or machines
- Overhaul and repair of customers' machines and equipment
- Ensuring machines and equipment on site are safe, working efficiently and fit for purpose
- Electrical Installation work as required on any specific project. Work with and install single phase / three phase electrical circuits
- Advise on Engineering requirements and drawings
- Work with and coordinate with other contractors
- Undertake repairs and servicing to the highest standard in accordance with work requests and pre-determined specifications
- Fault Finding, testing, and the removal or adjustment of existing fittings, fixtures and
- Effective Communication - keeping Management and relevant parties aware and seeking advice and assistance when required.
- MIG/TIG welding in support of projects undertaken by Oakley
- Any other duty as may be required commensurate with the business requirements .

- Ability to logically fault find
- Carried out PPM
- Understanding of pneumatics
- Read mechanical drawings
- Produce mechanical drawings
- Worked with conveyors
- Worked with chain, sprocket, belt driven machinery
- Experience of fan applications
- Worked with high speed rotating machinery
- Fabrication experience

- Good problem-solving / organisational skills
- Worked in a factory environment
- Experience of dealing with demanding customers
- Good communication skills at all levels

- HNC/HND or equivalent in mechanical or electrical Engineering
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in electrical or mechanical Engineering

- Self-motivated
- Flexible and adaptable
- Resilient
- Demonstrate sound decision-making skill.
- Good Communication skills and be able to establish and maintain effective contact with staff and key partners, suppliers, contractors.
- Systematic approach to problem solving
- The ability to work as part of a team

- 17th Edition qualifications essential
- PAT testing experience
- 2391-10 Electrical Testing
- Current knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation
- Hydraulics
- Pneumatics

- Time Served Mechanical and or Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship
- Experience of operating Lathes, Mills, Grinders
- Work with and Install single phase/three phase electrical circuits
- Knowledge and Experience on a wide range of machines eg mills, lathes, grinding machines
- Experience of CNC lathes / PLC equipment;
- MIG/TIG welding ;
- hydraulic test rigs;
- paint spraying equipment and general engineering machinery

- The post must be able to meet the transport requirements of the post
- Must be prepared to work at weekends - 1 weekend in 4 as a guide
- The post holder must be able to work well under pressure and be able to meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines.
- The role will demand that the post holder is able to challenge constructively existing ideas and practices.
- The post requires the use of discretion and initiative across all areas of work
