Workshop manager

My client is a specialist mechanical & electrical engineering contractor who provide fabrication and maintenance services for industrial equipment.

They have released an exciting opportunity for a small workshop manager to join their business on a permanent basis, due to their success and expansion.

You will be responsible for managing the operations to ensure efficiency throughout the full order cycle. You will deliver on customer satisfaction expectations by delivering on commitments and you will be responsible for making sure contracts/orders are optimised, fulfilled and delivered within budget and timescales.

What you'll do

Customer objectives
•Ensuring that specific customer requirements are exceeded and all opportunities for improvement are taken.
•Liaising with the Sales team to follow up quotations.
•Ensuring that the Branch meets or beats its contractual obligations to the Customer.

Performance objectives
•Supporting creation of budgets and forecasts to the dates required and monitor costs within agreed limits.
•Operating to high standards of Quality & HSE by ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and standards.
•Maintaining operational plans to achieve financial and operational goals.
•Applying suitable and timely performance management processes to ensure the branch's site objectives are achieved.
•Actively participate in development activities.
•Managing the work and teams accordingly to ensure the Branch meets/exceeds agreed KPI targets.
•Ensuring the Branch's equipment and facilities are maintained and upgraded to meet required future growth.

Team Development objectives
•Supporting and develop employees and the team to ensure they have the skills, knowledge and capability to meet the business needs.
•Motivating the teams to be a "best in class" customer focused service.
•Implementing strategies, policies and practices.
•Embracing and fully engage with new working practices, showing a lead in new behaviours and culture change requirements.

Channels of communication include:
Internal: Sales, Finance, HR, QHSE
External: Customers, Auditors, Supplier

Measurables: HSE, Revenue, EBITDA, SLA's, Inventory, Variances to budget, Business Excellence

What you'll need

•2 years minimum leading teams in Branch Service Centre environment.
•HNC/HND in electro/mechanical engineering is desirable.
•A solid technical background in electro/mechanical engineering.
•collaborative management style.
•Commercial awareness and market knowledge.
•Commitment to high professional ethical standards.
•Ability to delegate responsibility effectively.
•Enjoys working in a diverse and fast pace environment.
•Ability to deal with customers effectively and promote strong company image.
•Demonstrated management of staff.
