Reporting to the UK Production Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer will support the UK operations and manufacturing functions.
Support will be delivered through the creation and development of manufacturing drawings (using CAD software), manufacturing standards, jigs and fixtures.
Comprehensive use of ERP system (SAP) to create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM's) and cleanse master data.
Providing additional support to the Operations team by liaising with sub-contractors throughout Europe.
Updating current manufacturing drawings and associated bills of materials within SAP.
Assisting in cost-down and value add initiatives within existing and developing production flows, supporting the 6S and LEAN continuous improvement initiatives.
Must be able to work to "design for manufacture principles". Work closely with first off prototype and manufacturing production launch.
Working closely with sub-contractors within Europe (including the UK and Germany) to create manufacturing drawings and work instructions; Travelling will be a part of this role.
Supporting the setup of new projects for manufacture within the sub-contractors facilities. (ie subcontractor based in Germany).
Writing technical Manufacturing Instructions for both internal production and external contractors.
This person must be a good communicator and work well within cross functional teams and be able to work under own initiative, meeting deadlines.
Maintain and improve operational efficiency, for example Yield Improvement and Defective Reduction.
Adhere to all Health and Safety policies, procedures and regulations.
Actively support Quality Objectives, Assist in providing all necessary information for ISO auditors.
Performs other duties and support on projects as required or assigned by the Production Manager.
Minimum of 3 years' experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.
Working knowledge of 3D CAD software (Solidedge preferred)
Must be proficient with Microsoft office.
Must have excellent verbal, written, maths and presentation skills, with great attention to detail. Verbal and written fluency in English is required. Any other European languages, advantageous
Good Knowledge and experience of ERP/MRP system, SAP preferred.
Good knowledge of engineering processes and manufacturing techniques.
Knowledge of metal working and plastics would be advantageous.
Must be able to interact effectively and diplomatically with all company personnel with a positive and proactive approach to the requirements of other departments.
Must be able to operate with increasing autonomy in a fast-paced international environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously within tight timeframes.
Must be flexible with work schedules if required to meet the needs of the business during busy periods.
Ability to travel regularly within Europe up to 25% of time. Possible international travel, but this will be planned in advance.
For EU roles, candidates must be eligible to work and live in the European Union.
