Engineer - Multi Skilled (Security) – Kent – Gates, Barriers and Access Control




A field based role operating within areas defined by the Company either for one or multiple clients.
The provision of multi-skilled Security Engineering services predominantly at social sector or local authority sites.


Responsible for the quality delivery of day-to-day Engineering activities in the field including attendance at allocated reactive service calls, planned and preventative maintenance (PPM) works, repairing or reporting faults and effective verbal communications between customers and the HO Administration team.



Accountable for providing a quality Engineering service as required for each call or job meeting the Quality standards defined by the Company and delivering a "first time right" service.


Responsible for:

+ Upholding the standards of the Company in every aspect including quality of work, meeting response times, personal performance, appearance and behaviour;
+ Attending appointments at client sites as directed and maintaining proactive communication with the HO Administration team where attendance may be delayed;

+ Managing own stock levels and restocking in readiness for an on time start each morning;

+ Undertaking technical repairs in accordance with contract requirements, as directed and reporting back to HO Administration team any further works required;

+ Completing PPM works as required;
+ All H&S aspects on site escalating concerns swiftly and taking action to prevent accident or injury to self, colleagues or third parties;


+ Identifying additional works and reporting findings to HO Administration team or Field Line Manager;
+ Maintaining all administration as required including opening and closing jobs, completion / submission of timesheets and any other administration as directed;

+ Communicating with any Client representatives, residents or other third parties that uphold the standards of the Company.
+ To work the hours required to complete works including participation on an on-call rota as required covering out of hour’s reactive calls (including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays).
+ To work in accordance with Company policies in force from time to time including HR, H&S, Fleet, IT, Quality and Finance.



+ Ability to work alone according to company policy and responsibly in the field.
+ An excellent knowledge of and extensive experience of operating as a multi-skilled Security Engineer within the security industry particularly Gates and Access Control


+ Previous experience of working in social sector premises an advantage
+ Knowledge of basic computer systems for completion of administration systems in the field (e.g. previous use of PDA or IPhone)

+ Excellent knowledge of security products and systems
+ Strong awareness of relevant H&S requirements for operating in this role


+ Strong verbal and written communication skills
+ Qualified modern apprenticeship to Level 2/3 NVQ vocational framework with relevant City and Guilds Electronic Security and Emergency Systems 1853, or equivalent.


Must have and continue to have at all times:

+ Have a valid right to work in the UK
+ Hold a valid UK driving licence
