In Malaysia, we are seeking suitably qualified and experienced candidates for our APA Division.

The Mechanical Engineer liaises with Kingston Engineering and Local Suppliers to solve the technical issues related to the assembly and installation of the mechanical and electrical parts, as well as performance issues of the Trains during T&C and Warranty Period.

He / She shall support T&C Team for the resolution of the problems and RAMS group for improvement of the reliability.

He / She shall review and support Local Suppliers for the preparation of technical documents (descriptions, drawings and reports) to get final approval from the Client.
He/she shall provide technical clarification and responses to the issues raised by the Client. He / She shall lead the resolution of the open items and prepare the Engineering Change Orders.
The Mechanical Engineer will be located in Westport and/or Subang Depot in Malaysia.


  • Create technical documents:

(i) Installation Drawings, Sketches and descriptions for internal and external costumers.

(ii) Failure Analysis Reports for internal and external costumers.

  • Create and maintain the Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Investigate and Analyze technical problems providing:

a) Reports to clarify and maintain the existing design

b) Design Change to modify the design and solve the technical issues.

  • Carry out investigations and reports into processes and component failure, including correspondence with Kingston Engineering and other departments to resolve technical enquiries in a timely manner.
  • Attend relevant technical meetings with the Client, Consulting Engineers and Operator providing technical support and responses to the questions and comments raised during the meeting.
  • Review and support Local Suppliers for the preparation of technical documents (descriptions, drawings and reports) to get final approval from the Client.
  • Follow-up the progress of the Open Item List with Kingston Engineering and Suppliers.


  • Overall 5 years exp, at least 3 years relevant experience in Rail Industry and Rolling Stock.
  • Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with experience on the Mechanical design, failure troubleshooting, analysis and investigation.
  • Eligibility to register with Board of Engineer Malaysia (BEM) is preferred
  • Experience in maintenance and overhaul works of Rolling Stock is an added advantage
  • Must have sound understanding of concepts and procedures in own discipline and a good knowledge in related disciplines.
  • Works independently through the application of acquired knowledge, precedent and judgment based upon standard procedures
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience; may direct the work of other staff members.
