BGI Retail Inc., headquartered in Paris, Ontario, Canada is expanding its metal store fixture and display in store offering due to continued year over year sales growth. We have a new 76,000 sf manufacturing facility under construction, scheduled for occupancy January 2017. This internal metal manufacturing initiative will complete BGI Retail's total turn-key solution for retail environments. This will be BGI's fourth start-up venture and we are looking for a team to build and support this new business unit. . Our team strives for excellence and always pushes the envelope with production and innovation that ultimately benefits our clients. We are seeking passionate, creative and dynamic individuals with an above average work ethic to build and join this new start up Retail Metal Manufacturing Team There is an immediate need for the following position: POSITION: Plant Manger LOCATION: Paris, Ontario, Canada (new 76,000 NA. facility) REPORTS TO: Vice-President, Operations COMPENSATION: Base plus incentive, benefits plan SCOPE:To understand current and future metal capabilities that relate to our retail environment i.e. displays, signage, fixtures, mounting brackets, hardware, carcass frames;To design and build, from the ground up, the manufacturing process and tools required to successfully launch an efficient and innovative manufacturing facility;To recruit a manufacturing team that will support the business model and activities and identify and source equipment needs . RESULTS:Builds structure and process to support profitable growth and success;Delivers quality and production efficiency to produce world class products and achieve industry/customer recognition;Ensures a safe and productive workplace;Achieves employee satisfaction through application of sustainable work teams, superior training and development, and minimizing turnover;By way of process, training and control, the business minimizes lost time incidents andhealth and safety, environmental, labour, or financial issues, either internally or externally;100% on time delivery;Inventory levels are maintained in cost efficient manner;Workplace is clean and organized. RESPONSIBILITIES:Manage all manufacturing activities and success of the company, from a perspective of: customer, cost, quality and satisfaction; employee health and safety, job security and job satisfaction; operational efficiency, profitability and government regulatory and legal compliance;Develop new business channels for adjacent and new markets;Manage the team and lead the work of others in compliance with legal requirements and company policies and practices;Assume a leadership role in coaching, developing, and motivating all supervision staff and production employees in order that they may perform their functions at a world-class level in a positive, productive and professional environment which fosters team work and mutual respect;Monitor quality on an ongoing basis including response to out of control conditions;Assist staff with any quality problem encountered;Monitor and assess employee training including a recommendation of any additional training requirements;Ensure that housekeeping procedures are followed to maintain a world-class facility;Monitor and assist in implementation of various systems and processes;Maintain excellent communication lines between all departments and operations staff;Work with management and production employees to establish schedules to ensure customer satisfaction and 100% on time delivery;Take a proactive role in helping to overcome operational problems encountered in the normal course of business;Lead and coach production employees to help accomplish budget goals, improve quality, maintain employee morale and improve work environment;Establish processes that maintain inventory of production supplies and materials in a cost effective manner; QUALIFICATIONS:Excellent communications, negotiation, conflict management and problem solving skills;Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization;5 to 10 years' leadership experience in a metal manufacturing environment;Fully qualified in commercial metal manufacturing systems and processes, specifically tube and sheet materials;Demonstrated success with continuous improvement and team building;Qualified with the Microsoft Office suite and CRM/inventory management software;Qualified with automated panel processing machinery, including CNC's, presses, brakes and turrets;Expert knowledge of wet and powder coating paint finishes;Experience in lean manufacturing an asset.
