Job purpose
We are currently recruiting for a Weekend Chef based in Billericay CM12. You will be required to work Saturday and Sunday 7.00am to 3.00pm (7.5 hours paid daily 15 in total over the weekend)

The successful applicant would be required to cook from fresh meals for a maximum of 22 elderly care patients for the lunch time service and a cooked breakfast each Saturday morning and prepare a continental breakfast on Sunday. They will need to have the relevant chef qualifications.

  • Prepare and cook dishes according to a planned menu using standardised recipes, while maintaining a clean and safe environment
  • To maintain strict portion /waste control in line with prescribed targets
  • To take responsibility for ensuring the highest standards of food presentation are achieved and maintained at all times
  • To assist with the preparation, production and delivery of Hospitality as required
  • To complete accurate daily records of operational, wastage and food safety
  • To be responsible for ordering all stock of foods, non-foods and staff uniforms, liaising with suppliers and hospital staff on requirements
  • To ensure the efficient use of resources and that effective stock storage and control is maintained. This includes reporting mechanical defects and need for repair
  • To receive deliveries in line with standard operating procedures
  • To participate in any training required to undertake the duties of the post
  • To accept responsibility for service provision in absence of line management
  • To respond to complaints and other service issues timely and professionally
  • To Maintain the highest standard of personal hygiene in line with Interserve's Hygiene Code of Practise
  • To ensure the highest standards of cleanliness in all Restaurants/kitchens and designated areas in line with legislation & contractual requirements
  • To comply with the Company's Health and Safety strategy, policy and procedure and to ensure a safe and healthy environment for employees, visitors, patients and contractors
  • To undertake any other duties, consistent with the responsibilities of the post as directed by the management to ensure service provision

What we are looking for
  • City & Guilds or an NVQ qualification in basic chef skills is required
  • Appropriate vocational qualifications
  • Basic hygiene qualification
  • Experience working in a Hospital environment
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Passionate about delivering quality services
  • Calm manner, capable of working under pressure
  • Flexible approach to work as role may involve unsociable hours
  • Previous experience in a similar role would be desirable
