Purpose of Role
Why the role is needed – To deliver effective procurement solutions to Work Winning, Major Project Delivery teams and the Business as a whole. To improve performance and reduce cost and business risk significantly. To deliver a better value supply chain by embedding category strategies into the projects and focusing on the needs of internal & external customers. Role in the context of business strategy – Business strategy states that Supply Chain will be delivered through a combination of Category Management and Operational Procurement (Supply Management). This role will manage the supply of goods and services across part of a Business Unit in order that financial savings and performance improvements are made through a more strategic approach to supply chain management and a more integrated approach with our customers (internal & external) and our suppliers. Include sustainable procurement requirements including life cycle analysis in PQQ's and Tenders. Use information gathered as a way of differentiating suppliers when awarding orders and contracts. Engagement with suppliers on sustainability.
Delivers all Supply Management activity within part Of a Business Unit - Works closely with stakeholders and category managers to understand customer requirements and implement the most appropriate Supply Chain and category solutions - Is responsible for supporting the Supply Chain solution for Work Winning in the Business Unit - Participates in strategic projects as necessary. - Ensures that the supply chain is safe, sustainable and appropriately accredited - Works closely with category management colleagues and works with cross-functional teams to implement agreements across the business - Installs and leads performance management and supplier development programmes, provides metrics and trend analysis. Installs corrective action plans - Delivers targeted savings and performance improvement benefits and is accountable for the cost reduction and performance of the supply chain in his/her area of responsibility - Promotes Carillion Supply Chain capability to customers, suppliers and stakeholders - Selects subcontractors/suppliers outside of Category Managed spend areas - Conducts subcontract and major supply pre-let meetings and negotiations. Prepares and places significant subcontract and major material supply orders. Drafts and issues contractual documentation - Focuses on effective communication and relationship building with internal & external customers and suppliers - Responsible for adhering to the business Supply Chain strategies, processes & procedures - Delivers against procurement programmes - Achieves targets set by the Head Of Supply Management/Supply Chain Manager. Prepares and presents timely & accurate reports - Inputs to planning activities with horizons of typically 6 months to 12 months. - Advance key objective of sustainable procurement including how it can be used to win work
Additional Role Information
This role requires experience of working as part of a team on Key Construction Projects. Working on exciting projects you will ideally be CIPS qualified and will have Construction project experience. If you have Construction procurement experience within the Defence sector, this would be ideal.
We are looking for candidates who have a strong f o cus on consistently b uilding effective relationships with supplier s , driving c ost savings and increasing service performance . You will have skills in Supply chain management, Supplier negotiation, procurement appraisal and cost reporting expertise. You will be a persuasive negotiator & will be an effective communicator who is at ease communicating at all stakeholders levels, and will be able to demonstrate a calm and practical approach to problem solving under pressure with a resilient and detemined attitude.
