Head of Building Control|
Working Hours: 37.5 hours a week
Salary: (depending on experience and qualifications)
Location: This role will be based in Barnet, however travelling to client's premises, project sites and other Capita offices outside of Barnet will be required.

About The Barnet Partnership

We are seeking a highly motivated individual who will play a key role in the growth and successful delivery of our Building Control Business
What you will do
Lead and manage a comprehensive, efficient and effective Building Control and Structures service that strives to deliver a high quality, efficient and customer focussed service to clients.
To lead in the development of a dynamic service by initiating and managing changes to the service that reflects the needs of our existing and potential clients.
Make a positive contribution to the development of and support to the delivery of the council's corporate objectives and values, in an environment of continuous improvement.
To contribute positively to council and directorate strategies and policies, and engage in partnerships as appropriate.
Lead a team with a wide range of professional and technical skills and will be expected to ensure the Council discharges its delegated powers and duties, as required under the Building Regulations, Building Act and associated legislation, all within National and Local prescribed performance standards.
Qualifications- Corporate Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), or Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE), or Chartered Institute of Builders (CIOB) or a similar professional body. Management or leadership related qualification desirable
Technical Knowledge- Excellent knowledge of the Building Acts, Building Regulations, Approved Inspector. An understanding of London or metropolitan/regional and local government building control and associated issues, policy trends and legal processes
Local Authority Building Control-Working knowledge of LABC initiatives such as the Partner Project Management- Authority, Cross-Boundary, and Registered Details schemes, etc. Expert knowledge and successful experience of enforcement procedures, prosecutions and remedial action to effectively remedy Building Control regulatory
Safety at sports grounds- Experience of dealing with safety certification under the Safety at Sports Grounds Act 1975 and Fire Safety and Safety of Places of Sport Act 1987.
