The Information Services department is responsible for the oversight, resource management and financial management of all IS projects and work-streams within the force. The Department is involved in a number of major projects focused on driving forward and supporting effective and efficient policing and their team has the opportunity to be involved in these.
Position: Information Services Network Analyst
Location: Ripley, Derbyshire
Hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: £25,656 - £31,938 per annum

About the role:
They are seeking to recruit a dynamic and enthusiastic network analyst to support the Force network infrastructure and network operating systems, to further improve the range of facilities available to the Force users. The candidate will be involved in the routine configuration and installation of network hardware and software, whilst maintaining the security of the force network, and reviewing, developing and implementing network improvements.
The network analyst role provides technical fault resolution, new provision and changes to the Force data network (Local and Wide Area), and network security infrastructure by following agreed processes, procedures and standards. With an ability to travel to other sites transporting network equipment, the successful candidate will also be a member of the on call rota for network issues and will be required to perform on call duties outside of normal office hours as operational requirements dictate.
The ideal candidate will have recognised qualifications in network management or equivalent work experience, and will have a comprehensive understanding of network management, including diagnostic tools together with proven experience of TCP / IP, Firewalls, Data Switches and Routers.
You will have proven experience of managing network security along with detailed knowledge of networking protocols. Demonstrable experience in reviewing, developing and implementing network improvements along with fault diagnosis and resolution are also key to success in this role. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage customer relationships are also required. Candidates will also need the ability to travel to other sites, transporting network equipment and providing support as required.
Ideally, candidates will hold a project management and ITIL qualifications, with knowledge of project management and related methodologies. Experience of using Service Desk software, e.g. BMC Remedy, Touchpaper and knowledge of systems development lifecycle would also be highly advantageous.
