FPS have been engaged to seek out a Senior Mechanical Engineer in the Glasgow area for a very highly renowned engineering client.

We are looking for an Engineer with water treatment experience to oversee all aspects of mechanical projects from design right through to implementation, ensuring compliance with Client specifications and current regulatory standards. You will be responsible for developing mechanical design deliverables, the procurement of goods and services, preparing mechanical work scope estimates/quotations and completing contract works information documents, as required. You will also produce risk assessments and method statements, and manage quality, environmental and health and safety matters on allocated projects.


* Degree/HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
* Knowledge with British Standards
* Proven track record as a Mechanical Engineer in both a design office and in construction
* Ability to follow/interpret/explain technical instructions
* Sound knowledge Mechanical discipline and good knowledge of Electrical
* Knowledge of customer's products and markets
* Knowledge of customer's processes and procedures
* Sound knowledge of Environmental, Quality and Health & Safety processes/requirements
* Some experience in managing a team of Mechanical Engineers
* Some knowledge in strategic planning and risk management

* Excellent decision-making and communication skills
* Good time management
* The ability to multitask
* IOSH Managing Safely
* First Aid - 3 day
* SMSTS - 5 day
* Ability to plan and organise day to day workloads within a busy fabrication, assembly and production environment
* Good interpersonal skills with an ability to work with, lead and motivate teams of tradesmen under your jurisdiction
* Have a good understanding of Quality systems, Health and Safety and the Environment

* Strong project management capability

* Good communications skills
* Good technical background
* Good knowledge of Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety processes/procedures
* MSRA Training

* Ability to work alone or supervise a team
* Ability to follow/interpret/explain technical instructions
* Knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to mechanical, electrical and civil engineering trades
* Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations
* Skill in both verbal and written communication
* Full clean driving licence

* Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem solving capabilities
* Be persuasive, encouraging and motivating
* Able to elicit co-operation from a wide variety of sources including upper management, Clients and other departments
* Able to bring projects to successful completion
* Flexibility, common sense and innovative thinking

* Able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
* Able to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high pressure environment is crucial
