WSP|Parsons Brinckerhoff has an opening for a Public Information Coordinator to work in our Pompano Beach, FL area office working on the Florida Turnpike construction projects. The position will support, assist and offer guidance to the program in outreach and communications for all construction projects located within the southern half of Florida's Turnpike system.

The position is part of WSP|Parsons Brinckerhoff's national Communications & Public Involvement Practice. This is an exciting opportunity to join our national team of talented communications and public outreach/public information professionals.

The primary responsibilities of this position are as follows:
      • Respond to inquiries from the public
      • Attend weekly construction progress meetings as necessary to fully understand current project details
      • Serve as liaison between the Turnpike and the community, particularly in active construction zones
      • Write and distribute press releases with appropriate approvals
      • Work with construction project managers to identify and help to manage information related to construction
      • Reply to emails and letters from the public on behalf of Turnpike Construction with proper coordination with Turnpike leadership
      • Assist and provide support to Turnpike's Roadway Maintenance and Traffic Operations staff with customer inquiries
      • Developing public information materials, reports, brochures, media kits, fact sheets, and newsletters related to construction projects

Job Requirements
Education Required:
      A Bachelor's Degree
Experience/Skills Required:
      • A minimum of 5 years of related experience
      • Must have outstanding oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
      • Must work effectively with teams and demonstrate initiative
      • Superior organizational and creative skills
      • Work experience in public information and communication for transportation, design or construction projects
      • High attention to detail
      • Experience with graphics programs, such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign
      • Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Publisher
      • Ability to work well with the public and interact effectively with all organizational levels , including senior management
      • Ability to meet deadlines and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
      • Ability to exercise a high level of discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information
Desired Qualifications:
      • More than 2 years of experience in infrastructure or transportation communications/public information
      • Communications experience for FDOT road and bridge construction projects
      • Bilingual abilities (English and Spanish)

The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
