General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) has an immediate opening for a Senior Test Design Engineer to join our Engineering team. The position provides an opportunity to develop and advance the cutting-edge equipment and systems that support some of our nation's fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to build and further advance GDMS technologies. The Senior Test Design Engineer is responsible for designing and developing automatic test software and hardware for modules, power supplies and sub-assemblies for both design qualification and production acceptance, which include:

Key Responsibilities

  • Versa Module Eurocard (VME) Module Acceptance Tests
  • Power Supply Acceptance Tests
  • Module Test Fixture Design
  • Fault Coverage Analysis
  • Acceptance Test Plans
  • Acceptance test Specifications

Additional Responsibilities
  • Exercise creative thinking and ideation to advance our business performance.
  • Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers• changing business needs.
  • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the General Dynamics Mission Systems culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure General Dynamics Mission Systems•s services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices.
  • Development of test software/hardware for existing and new designs, including Commercial Off the Shelf (COTs) and Non-Development Item (NDI)
  • Interface to Program Management for test development tasks
  • Provide interface and support to Manufacturing for acceptance tester issues and assistance in troubleshooting module and power supply issues
  • Support of existing customer VME Module Acceptance Test Designs and Power Supply Test Designs
  • Implementing and improving the GDMS and C2 Systems test design process
  • Actively pursue Process/Quality improvements

Basic Qualifications:

Candidates must demonstrate passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of various engineering systems and the ability to further advance GDMS technology.

The Senior Test Design Engineer position requires either a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or the equivalent and a minimum of two to five years of related work experience or a master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or the equivalent with zero to two years of related experience.

Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

The Senior Test Design Engineer must demonstrate:
  • Ability to effectively develop and manage GDMS equipment and processes
  • Ability to interact effectively with one-on-one discussions in general meetings
  • Dedication to ethics, diversity and safety
  • Dedication to meeting assigned budgets and schedules

The Senior Test Design Engineer Required Qualifications:
  • Excellent communications skills (written, verbal, presentation) to all levels (reports, peers, management, customer)
  • Minimum of two to five years experience in VME Module & Power Supply Test Design or related areas
  • Minimum travel required
