GDMS has an immediate opening for a Radio Frequency (RF) Ground Systems Engineer to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to support and maintain cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. Management and technical responsibilities for this position include:

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert for Gateway Terminal, able to work in a collaborative environment with program engineers on site, able to mentor junior engineers on all aspects of the system.
  • Provide support for signal processing and routing equipment as well as test to ensure the integration of software, hardware, reliability, maintainability, safety and other requirements in the total engineering effort; Able to use test equipment to sample RF signal at multiple locations, to create and maintain system trending.
  • Perform signal monitoring tasks that include alarm/discrepancy identification/isolation analysis from a control room for remote transmission systems across distributed network to include Digital Signal Processor (DSP) system/devices to assure product quality and discrepancy resolution to optimum parameters.
  • Able to adapt factory delivered processes and procedures, as well as identify and develop new processes and procedures, to comply with program documentation requirements.
  • Able to work with E1/E2 Engineering team to ensure end-to-end system integrity.
  • Oversee logistical repair and return processes; collaborates and guides RF Ground Systems Engineering Technician with logistic program.
  • Ability to work seamlessly with teammates and associate contractors.
  • Able to work as Engineer on-call as needed, approximately once every 6 weeks; Off-hours contingency recovery support as needed.
  • Serve as alternate site manger as needed; to include assisting onsite GDMS manager with interviewing new personnel as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or other technical discipline(Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM)) or the equivalent and at least five to eight years of related work experience. Applicants with a Master's Degree and a minimum of three to five years of related experience is also eligible. The successful RF Ground Systems Engineer must have the following:
  • 5 years of experience with Satellite Ground systems; detailed knowledge of Satellite Baseband Infrastructure
  • 2 years of experience working with telecommunications/signal processing equipment (e.g., Vadatech)
  • Excellent Oral and Written communication skills
  • Willingness to work with team members and the Prime contractor
  • Ability to work in a lab environment to include: lifting of 30 pounds or more; rack and stack; cabling
  • Provide support for signal processing and routing equipment as well as test to ensure the integration of software, hardware, reliability, maintainability, safety and other requirements in the total engineering effort

Department of Defense TS/SCI clearance required at time of hire. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a Polygraph within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire. Applicants selected will be
