Shop Foreman Region of Durham, ON Reporting to the Manager, the Shop Foreman is responsible for the direct supervision of multiple Mechanics, ensuring work assignments are performed in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with the preventive maintenance program, Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) and all applicable regulations. This position requires a hands-on-approach, providing guidance to Mechanics as well as planning and administrative work to ensure shop efficiency. Qualifications: Commercial Transport or Heavy Duty Journeyman Mechanic CVIP Inspector ticket Additional qualifications specific to Bus/Truck industry (Lean maintenance & 5S, Asset/Life Cycle Management) are beneficial 3 years as a Commercial Transport Journeyman Technician 1 year in a leadership role in maintenance-related activities in a large unionized environment Class B Driver's license or higher and air brake endorsement (Z) Responsibilities: Effectively supervise the maintenance department staff to ensure that quality standards and productivity requirements are met Train the technicians and apprentices in safety, policies and procedures service methods and diagnostics/troubleshooting Identify and correct potential work problems and health and safety issues Manage targeted goals and service efficiencies to ensure the ongoing success of the service department Preventative Maintenance Program implementation and monitoring Develop and Work assignment (Work packages) Process/procedures implementation Ensure accuracy and completeness of work orders entered into the computerized maintenance management system, Web Fleet Assistant (WFA) Act in the capacity of Maintenance Technician as required
