OVERVIEW: MacLellan Integrated Services provides critical process cleaning, maintenance and support services to the automotive manufacturing industry across north America. The Group Leader is the first-line supervisory position in our organization. This role leads a critical process cleaning crew in an automotive manufacturing plant operating continuous shifts. This critical position is the backbone of our organization. How effectively Group Leaders manage and develop their teams, and interact with the customer, ultimately determines the success of the site contract. The Group Leader is exposed to management of people, process, and product at the most fundamental levels, and learns first hand how to manage in a fast paced, JIT, safety focused environment. This is an excellent starting point to gain valuable knowledge in a fast paced OEM automotive environment and learn how the organization works. This role is the training ground for future leaders and those that excel here are quickly noticed. This role is the gateway to other management opportunities and future managers for the site, region, and company as a whole are selected and groomed here. JOB DESCRIPTION: The Group Leader is responsible for the safety, quality, delivery and labor efficiency of their assigned shift. This role is accountable for the development of the team and promoting employee contributions to safety and continuous improvement. The day to day tasks include maintaining a safe work environment, directing teams to complete the assigned work, maintaining LE targets, working on continuous improvement ideas, and complete assigned tasks per responsibility matrix. Maintain communication boards as assigned that provide updates to our team and customer. On daily basis the Group Leader will have interaction with key customer contacts, typically but not limited to Area managers in charge of specific processes. Building and sustaining relationships with key customer contacts is essential. The Group Leader will be responsible for time sheets and ensuring proper documentation is complete for all hourly employees on their shift and ensuring union contract is followed.. Specific Duties & Responsibilities:Direct and supervise a team to complete all assigned work while maintaining Labor Efficiency targets and safety performance NA assigned communication boards providing production information, safety audit status and safety updates to our team and our NA regularly with key customer contacts including area managers in charge of paint specific NA for time sheets and ensuring documentation is complete for all hourly employees on their NA consumables budgets and monitor customer plan vs. actual consumables spend NA 5S audits and drive continuous improvement NA or assist in work planning and scheduling for shift buy offs. MUST BE ABLE TO WORK NIGHTS, WEEKENDS OR ANY SHIFT AS PART OF REGULAR WORK SCHEDULEAND MUST BE WILLING TO RELOCATE REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience:At least 2 years of related experience supervising employees in manufacturing/industrial service delivery, preferably in a union NA industry experience, automotive paint shop or paint defect analysis experience strongly NA have experience with and demonstrated knowledge of TPS, Kaizen, 5S, continuous improvement and lean manufacturing processes and NA, production, or quality control background or experience with DuPont safety systems is a plus. Education:Bachelor's degree or a combination of a 2 year technical degree from a certified trade school or technical college in an industrial field or an accredited maintenance apprenticeship program and additional directly related supervisory experience in a fast paced manufacturing NA education, formalized training or certification in 5S or Kaizen is highly desirable. Skills:Must demonstrate exceptional communications skills and the ability to present to customers, team members, and NA strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with peers, management, subordinates and team members to positively impact NA be driven by a strong customer focus with the ability to drive process improvement and encourage NA be computer literate and demonstrate strong proficiency using MS Office.
