The position of TCO requires senior level experience in, and working knowledge of, all relevant export and import regulations as well as a general knowledge of manufacturing site activities.

Specific responsibilities:
Managing an efficient and effective Trade Compliance programme for the manufacturing site consistent with Trade Compliance programmes.

Trade Compliance Officer ? Aerospace / Defence
• Maintaining up to date working knowledge of all applicable regulations including those of the UK, EU and US, including OFAC, ITAR, & EAR (post Export Control Reform).
• Interfacing with US-based Director, Global Trade Compliance regarding current and pending compliance regulation initiatives and legislation that may impact company business.
• Determining Agreements, licenses and license exceptions or exemptions, as appropriate, for all Coventry transactions and proactively establishing the terms of export and import licenses that meet compliance requirements and organizational needs
• Providing an interface with the SBU Director, Global Trade Compliance and site entities to provide guidance on current and future trade regulatory requirements as they relate to the SBU business plans and future products.
• Providing day-to-day Trade Compliance support for export and import activities.
• Participate in various SBU business initiatives.
• Providing advisory support to ensure that all applicable products are classified for export and import in accordance with UK and US regulations.
• Using Group web-based tools for the site Trade Compliance activities, as appropriate.
• Ensuring that procedures related to trade regulations and reporting requirements are in place and kept up to date for all appropriate areas of responsibility and personnel at the manufacturing site.
• Using Group Trade Compliance assessment guidelines and audit checklists to ensure adherence to Group compliance policies and procedures.
• Conducting regular internal assessments to ensure compliance with procedures.
• Maintaining a Trade Compliance Training Program at the manufacturing site in keeping with requirements and consistent with the programmes. This involves developing and delivering training packages.
• Maintaining Trade Compliance record keeping at the manufacturing site in keeping with regulatory requirements, SBU requirements and consistent with the programmes.
• Managing transactions referred to the TCO, releasing compliance-related holds on shipments after all Trade Compliance requirements are satisfied
• Submitting for approval information related to transactions as required for review by PLC Management
• Adhering to Group process to ensure export transaction screening (i.e. national, supra-national and international restricted or denied party lists) and giving support and training to other screening users.
• Participating in Group, Government and 3rd party export and import audits.
• Conducting fact finding of potential non-compliances and subsequent disclosures as authorized by the Director, Trade Compliance and PLC Legal Counsel. Including but not limited to Matters under Review (MUR), Voluntary and Directed Disclosures.
• Representing Trade Compliance at site management meetings.
• Professional development of supporting staff and coordinating their day-to-day activities and priorities as required.
• Ensuring that corrective actions pertaining to external and internal assessments are completed in a timely and effective manner.
• Attending Group trade compliance meetings as required.
• In addition to these functions, employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required

Key skills and competencies required:
• Experience in a similar role is essential
• Knowledge of US Trade Regs (OFAC, ITAR & EAR) is essential
• Knowledge of all relevant export and import regulations is essential
• Manufacturing experience is desirable
• Training & Presentation skills are desirable
• Auditor or auditing experience is preferable
• Aerospace, defence or space industry manufacturing experience is preferable
