A position has opened up for a Senior Front End Developer to step into a leadership role for a major start-up as they scale a system that simplifies a hugely complex process for enterprise customers.

On joining, the Senior Front End Developer will be the JavaScript authority in the team helping lead development on a huge AngularJS single page application (SPA) working directly with their Head of Product and Back-end Tech Lead. As you settle into the team you will begin to take full ownership of Front End architecture, technology selection, the setting, and enforcing, of engineering best practices and technical, and team, leadership of a highly talented group of 4.

To perform in the role you need to have acted in a senior capacity before but you do not need to have been an out and out lead, they will help you become one. You do though need to be an expert OO JavaScript engineer and have a solid understanding of the fundamental software engineering principles such as OO, and design patterns, and modern best practices such as TDD, BDD, Agile and CI/CD that enable the creation of scalable, performant, flexible and maintainable enterprise software, in teams. Lastly, you may not spend must time in this role working on the mobile first UI with HTML and CSS (Inc. SASS/LESS) however you do need to be an authority in the team on them and principles such as BEM, OOCSS and SMACCS.

Although their platform is currently built in Angular they are already investigating Angular 2, and React, to future proof the product long term and improve performance, scalability and flexibility. You will lead technology selection through this process defining the direction the business needs to take to ensure they maintain their edge, an edge that is seeing them already count companies like Air Bnb, Tesco and Reckitt Benckiser as customers.

Lastly this team proudly boast almost no technical debt which is a rare scenario for anyone and allows considerably flexibility for adding new features quickly without the pain of and old code to integrate to manage. The position is ideal for someone looking to make a substantial jump in their career and be able to flex their muscles with the support of a business field with pedigree to build the best possible solution to a highly complex problem.
