To lead and manage an Engineering shift to deliver the required departmental KPI?s, those being equipment availability, operational throughput and budgetary control. Develop and maintain an excellent working relationship with internal customers, both individually and with your team.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

To be accountable for:
Managing, motivating and engaging a team to deliver a valued service to their customers, promote both individually and as a team a ?can do? attitude. Responsible for disciplinary procedure to first level.

Being part of a 24/7 Engineering team, cover for other Shift Managers in times of absence and to ensure that standards are followed consistently irrespective of shift.

Managing your shift to ensure that there are always sufficient numbers and required skills to maintain the required equipment effectiveness. This includes advance planning regarding holidays and any other planned absence, and reacting and managing any short notice absence.

Through the Performance review process, challenge and develop your team, looking at improvements in both technical abilities and behaviours.

To be accountable for:
Taking responsibility for engineering effectiveness across the entire plant, focusing on decision making and prompt breakdown resolution. Understand production processes, and consult with production managers to install contingency measures to maintain operational throughput. Accept that this is often done outside of office working hours.

In conjunction with planners and other task providers, seek to optimise all available opportunity and shift resource to complete work assignments, looking to reduce, to an effective level down day requirements.

Managing engineering costs and taking responsibility for budget control, with emphasis on control of spares.

Supporting continuous improvement and RCA activities, utilising your team to achieve resolution.

Your personal safety and that of all personnel under your authority, including others who may be affected by the company activities.

Establishing practices to maintain a safe working environment and hold people to account for those standards, managing your department in such a way to deliver high levels of compliance at all times as a consistent operating standard.

Challenging unsafe behaviours and providing consequences to those who do not follow the company H&S policy.

Adhering to the duties required for your role within the Company Health and Safety policy.

Food Safety
To be accountable for:

The management and implementation of the company food safety and quality policy establishing practices to maintain a Food Safety and Quality focused mind-set that holds people to account for those standards.

Managing your own area in such a way that encourages your team to adopt this mind set and deliver high levels of compliance at all times as a basic operating standard by;
o Ensuring competence and capability of team members.
o Ensuring the information and instruction is provided, training is carried out, and supervision maintained to enable work to be performed accurately and consistently by your team.

Promoting and enforcing behaviours and actions that will prevent all contamination threats to products whether physical, microbial or chemical.

Immediate escalation reporting on the status on any non-compliance in the system or process (to management) for countermeasure or immediate remedy.
