Overview of the Technical Services Engineer Role
About us
Our Client is one of the busiest commuter rail companies in the UK running more than 2,000 trains, and carrying nearly 600,000 passengers every day between London, Kent and East Sussex. They also run the UK's only high speed train service on their 'Javelin' trains with a top speed of 140 mph.
Purpose of the Role
This role will provide technical support to improve productivity, reliability growth and safety management both within the depot facility and for the wider company fleet operation. The post holder will provide a range of Technical Services including provision of maintenance documentation, technical advice, investigative services and problem solving as required.
The role will conduct technical investigations into issues highlighted by Production, Quality and in-service experience to support the continuous improvement of the fleet with respect to safety, customer satisfaction and reliability. The role will then be responsible for implementing recommendations from the investigations, including improvements to maintenance documents, fault-finding guides and train modifications. The role includes the development of component or system trials and development of engineering change including changes to the maintenance plan or component modification.
The role will manage safety through analysis of rolling stock performance, management of technical risks, and provision of recommendations arising from technical investigations.

Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications
At least 3 years experience in a T&RS engineering environment
HND / HNC in an Engineering Discipline (or a trainee Graduate Engineer)
General rolling stock experience, knowledge of planned maintenance processes and repair of rail vehicle systems.
Geographical knowledge of the company?s routes, including capabilities and facilities available at the company depots and berthing facilities
Knowledge of IT systems, including Windows, Word, Excel, together with a good understanding of mainframe systems, including EMS, TRUST, and hybrid systems such as GENIUS and RAVERS
Good knowledge of rules and regulations, particularly those applicable to DC EMU rolling stock
Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.

Working here
Based from Slade Green you will be required to work 37 hours per week. The post holder will also be required to conduct out of hours On-call FTO duties as per the weekly On-call FTO roster and hold a full UK driving licence in order to drive on-call vehicles. The post holder must also be able to obtain PTS certification.
