Welding Engineer
up to £40,000 + benefits

Our client is a small, well-backed and fast-growing business, located in Derby, supplying specialist engineering services and manufacture to the rail rolling stock sector. They are part of a small, but ambitious and acquisitive engineering group. The company is a well-established player in their sector, with a strong reputation for the highest quality workmanship, excellent customer service and innovation. Due to ongoing growth, our client seeks to appoint an experienced and capable Welding Engineer.

The Role:

As a Welding Engineer and reporting to the Engineering Director, you will review project specifications for welding processes, base metals and non-destructive testing requirements; select appropriate welding procedure specification, and if required, qualify a new WPS. You will ideally have at least 3 years welding related experience including welding metallurgy experience in a fabrication or repair facility.

Our client would support the attainment of professional welding qualifications.

The primary responsibility in this role is to develop technical responses to enquiries, liaise with their current welding operations in order to generate and implement specifications. Other responsibilities include:

? Submit Material and process selection recommendations to ensure attainment for design objectives and service applications.
? Review and advise the Engineering Director of potential materials, welding, heat treatment or NDT problems.
? Develop technical procedures to support customer specifications and best practices.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to affect and drive change whilst being proactive in a fast paced environment, which will be pivotal to the success of this role. A high level of customer service will be imperative supporting your participation in final walk-throughs with customers whilst pro-actively working to the companies working ethos and ethics.
