A senior level appointment has become available for a leading multidisciplinary consultancy in Manchester. Applicants must demonstrate a civil engineering academic background, having a degree in civil and structural engineering or a relevant discipline. Preferably a candidate will be chartered or, if not, will be working towards obtaining a chartered engineer status or incorporated engineer status with ICE or CIHT. A successful candidate will have knowledge of highway standards (DMRB) and specification (MCHW) as well as an awareness of H&S legislation and how it is applied to the design process. Ideally a candidate will have recent experience of working with a multidisciplinary team, being able to provide examples of exercising technical skills in one or more areas of capabilities such as alignment, drainage, pavement, signs, street lighting and road marking.
Communication skills are vital for this position as initially you will be the single point of contact for both internal and external clients, and will also have to, with the help of the management team, recruit and manage your own team of designers. You will work with teams and clients to successfully navigate the design approval processes. A successful candidate will have some consultation experience with HA, Local Councils, Emergency Services, Statutory Undertakers and key stakeholders. We are seeking a dedicated engineer with demonstrable design experience in highways, with previous project experience of designing plot levels, retaining walls and highways for residential sites on ranging topography and ground conditions.
A track record of developing business opportunities throughout North West England is a pre requisite.
Knowledge of, and experience with, AutoCAD and £D design software (e.g. Civils 3D) is essential. A successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate a detailed knowledge of design codes.
