The Role - Overview
System V&V Engineers are required for the back-end lifecycle System Engineering effort in the Project Delivery System Engineering Team. System V&V Engineers are required to help define Verify and Validate the System against its System Requirements and Design.

The jobholder will work within a team structure delivering detailed system engineering solutions with short to medium goals as dictated by their team leader or manager.

The jobholder will provide the engineering rigour required to deliver the complex System Engineering artefacts as required by a major project in what are demanding timescales. The role will balance technical requirement and design and skills with the ability to deliver within demanding timescales.

The jobholder will be expected to work within and to communicate effectively with members of the Project Delivery Team.
Key Responsibilities
The candidate will be expected to play a part in one or more of the following tasks:

  • Authoring and execution of System Integration & Validation Test Specifications and Test Scripts
  • Participation in configuration management and control
  • Integration of component subsystems into a single system
  • Configuration and continuous improvement of test rigs in support of system integration.
Other duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Review of System Requirements and Design artefacts
Essential Competencies
  • Understanding of systems engineering and configuration management processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Motivated, dependable and self-reliant
  • Excellent numerate skills

Desirable Competencies
  • Familiarity with hardware and software lifecycles, associated tools, techniques and methodologies
  • Familiarity with ETCS or CBTC systems
  • Familiarity with Railway Signalling systems or the Rail Industry


Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in an engineering, scientific or numerate discipline
