Located at Bradley International Airport, Bombardier Business Aircraft's Hartford Service Center offers a great place to learn from the best in business aviation. Established in February, 1981 as a 70,000 sq ft facility with a staff of 16, the facility now boasts 198,000 sq ft and over 235 dedicated employees. It is equipped to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, modifications, including interior modifications, avionics installations, and Aircraft on Ground (AOG) support for Bombardier Learjet , Challenger and Global aircraft. The Service Center has received certifications from FAA, EASA, Bermuda, Canada, Cayman Islands and Mexico. The facility has received 16 consecutive FAA Diamond Awards and is actively involved in the Hartford community, spearheading programs to create awareness about aviation maintenance among local students and to help close the gender gap in the industry.
This position is responsible for interpreting customer specifications, vendor requirements, company/industry standards, FAA/DOT and foreign regulations, determining mechanical equipment, hardware, antenna and system requirements in all types of Bombardier aircraft.
In your role, you will:

  • Prepare all necessary documents such as specifications, quotes, drawings, functional tests and reports.
  • Coordinate with customers, internal and external, vendors, and regulatory officials.
  • Support design changes such as airframe modifications, avionics box installations, antenna installations, and various interior modifications.
  • Interact with internal and external personnel on significant technical matters.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as required.


  • You have a degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • You have five (5) years minimum experience in aircraft modifications, heavy maintenance and/or completions
  • You must have experience in aircraft structures and interiors, as well as experience in an aircraft modification / service center
  • You have working knowledge of aircraft materials, standard parts and procedures
  • You can apply extensive expertise in problem solving and have a working knowledge of other disciplines
  • You can develop technical solutions to complex problems that require the use of ingenuity and creativity
  • You must be willing and able to interact with other engineers, shop personnel, and others in a collaborative manner
  • You must be capable of complete design documentation and assistance in certification efforts, as required


  • You have experience in computer-aided design and software, such as AutoCAD, CATIA, MS Office, etc.
  • You have modification/Completion experience with Bombardier line of aircraft (Learjet, Challenger, Global Express)
  • You have experience with foreign certification (import/export)
  • You are familiar with FAA regulations
  • You have project engineering background
  • You have experience with MS Project
