About the Business Line
AECOM's Global Support Services (GSS) organization resides within AECOM's Government business line and is comprised of three divisions - International Development, Operations and Mission Support, and Global Programs. GSS has the international presence, personnel networks and procurement infrastructure to deliver support for any mission, anywhere. Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a 3D CAD Modeler whose core function will be to generate and maintain 3-dimensional computer-aided design (CAD) models of U.S. Navy ships and other structures. CAD models will be used by integrated topside design (ITD), total ship electromagnetic environmental effects (TSE3), and computational electromagnetics (CEM) teams to design effective and efficient ship topside features (optimize equipment usage, minimize physical and electronic interference, ensure/enhance maintenance capabilities) and predict/resolve any Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) issues.
Autodesk Inventor experience and proficiency is required. The tasks performed require demonstrated proficiency in Inventor CAD software use and CAD design standards. Use of VAULT Configuration Management tools is necessary to maintain progressive design iterations. Duties require interaction in an office environment plus on-site surveys on U.S. Navy ships or other, potentially remote sites. The candidate will be responsible for importing and converting existing CAD models into Autodesk Inventor format, developing/creating new models in Inventor format, and making updates to existing models in Inventor format.
Candidate must review and provide input for improvement of the Navy CAD topside design standards. Candidate will interacts with ITD personnel to provide visual impacts of locations for antennas and other systems on ships, through updated drawings and model-based views of new and existing locations. Responsible for developing schedules to meet the needs of those requesting CAD services.

Minimum Requirements
Vocational/technical training beyond high school and at least seven (7) years of job-related experience. Requires thorough knowledge of CAD software. Position may require travel.
5 years minimum demonstrated 3D CAD experience
4 years minimum demonstrated INVENTOR experience
4 years minimum demonstrated VAULT experience
Strong communication and analytical skills required.
Must be able to obtain and hold an Active Secret clearance.
Occasional travel within the Washington, DC metropolitan area and potential travel to shipyards and other DOD facilities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • MS Power Point, Adobe Photo Shop,
• Familiarity with survey techniques for ships or other structures, including use of 3D Scanner survey equipment, to validate CAD model accuracy
