My clients, A local Authority based In South London are looking for a Planning Enforcement Officer to join their team. This will be on a long term contract. The successful candidate must have extensive knowledge of all relevant planning legislation, policies and procedures as well as a recognised degree level qualification in Planning, Town planning etc.

The main responsibilities of the roles will be as follows;

Ensure breaches of control and other planning legislation is dealt with accordingly
To handle planning applications of all sorts, in accordance with adopted Council policies and Government Guidance
To provide advice on applications and proposals to applicants, agents and the general public
Provide planning advice to assist all and any customers of the service, including through the Council's pre-application service
Processing the full range of planning applications, listed building and conservation area applications and other types of proposals, to ensure decisions in accordance with Council policy and objectives
Support the decision making of the Planning Committee to optimise its effectiveness
Providing information and advice to all those requesting it, including other Council officers and Members
Providing the Council's case at appeals, including informal hearings and Public Inquiries
Attendance at Committee meetings to present applications as required
Representing the Development Control Division on corporate working groups, development teams and other types of joint working as required

The successful candidates will hold an appropriate qualification in town planning (RITP is desirable) or urban design or something equivalent and will have previous experience in a similar role.
