The department is responsible for all operations purchasing for project and product businesses, forecasting and demand management within the business.
The role is responsible for the execution of all operational sourcing activities along the project life cycle. The buyer will have the ability to work with the customer to define actual requirements, then directly influence supplier to achieve target cost and on time and on quality delivery performance.
The buyer will provide purchasing services to several business units in the UK. All staff are potential customers so the individual will have to work across the multiple disciplines in the business.
The buyer will be required to procure items in the network connectivity and communications equipments commodity group.
Other responsibilities will include;
Cover for team lead in their absence
Issue and manage requests for quotation
Source compliant materials
Manage & control supplier deliverables (time, cost & quality)
Manage the contract fulfillment (issue & track PO's)
Ensure correct maintenance of SAP data
Extract procurement reports from SAP
Manage suppliers returns & repair process
Resolve invoice queries
Support the clearance of supplier quality/performance issues
Regular reports to customers
HND or equivalent academic qualifications required
Substantial professional purchasing experience
Must have worked in a secure environment, ideally with the MOD, in the last 12 months.
Monthly visits to other UK site locations with periodic international travel may be required
