Expenses Assistant; based in Preston; 6 months; £10.40 paye per hr. |
The role includes carrying out expenses processing activities within defined procedures and processes, with some initiative for decision making - and supporting the wider team in continuing to develop and work towards a benchmark service.
The role is in a busy shared service centre, processing and auditing expense claims for several business groups across various financial systems. The role will be predominantly transactional.
Complete training to ensure understanding of all systems, processes, customer T&E policies and work instructions that support the tasks being carried out
Sort and distribute post /emails
Timely and accurate processing of all expense claims according to relevant deadlines
Accurate and thorough review of expense claims for audit, working to documented guidelines/check sheet
Provide a support service to other sections and departments and deal with all related queries to completion
Carry out reconciliation activities in line with procedures
Complete tasks delegated by team leader and or manager
Complete tasks as per the weekly task lists
Filing/archiving of all relevant documentation
Ensure sound financial controls
Attend customer surgeries/meetings as and when required
Skills and Experience required:
Ideally, the candidate will have experience of working in a shared service/finance function performing a range of expense related processing and administration activities with the ability to demonstrate a basic understanding of the purchase to pay process within a large company
Effective and confident communicator, both written and verbally. The candidate must be able to communicate information effectively within the team and to external customers.
Basic understanding of Finance Services customers
Strong customer service focus, and can demonstrate related skills
Able to understand, judge correct approach, progress and resolve queries from a variety of sources
Demonstrates initiative and practical problem solving skills
Good team player
Accurate keyboard skills
Good level of literacy, numeracy and IT skills - Basic-to-moderate Excel skills are essential
Good understanding of Expense processes and how they interact with other processes in the business
Knowledge of Concur Expense would be advantageous
Knowledge of Baan, SAP, Maconomy, CODA or Oracle would also be ideal
