Key Accountabilities :

Strategic alignment
- Executes the portfolio of GIS priorities, as aligned to the GIS Platforms Roadmap
- Delivers solutions to meet the business requirements for Geospatial needs
- Ensures all key GIS standards, issues, and decisions are met.

Governance & risk management
- Adheres to GIS policies and procedures in support of the enterprise.
- Complies with content management policies and procedures across the enterprise
- Owns secure access and permissions management for all geospatial data repositories

Operational delivery
- Provides GIS data management support for all BHPB Assets globally - including loading and conditioning as required.
- Identifies available tools and methods to be used to enhance the user experience, users' characteristics and tasks, and the technical, organizational and physical environment in which products or systems will operate.

- Performs solution design and subject matter expertise for Geospatial Data Management and Workflows

- Design, Build, Run and Maintain for Geospatial database schemas and repositories.
- Responsible for all aspects of Geospatial data management including optimizing, defining, documenting and enforcing standards and workflows

- Permission and security to Identify, implement, and maintain proper database permissions and security

- File share management to maintain the file share structure and coordinate training on functionality, monitor health and provide reports to the business for data usage
  • Geospatial Search to perform indexing on file shares and maintain indexing results. Recommend GIS data management strategy and solutions based on the indexing results. Define reporting metrics and recommendations for best practices regarding geospatial data management
    - Works collaboratively with stakeholders to improve capabilities for GIS by ensuring services are fit for purpose, meeting expectations and well controlled
    - Liaise with the business, peers and leadership team to define, document, implement and enforce GIS policies, procedures and standards
    - Serve as primary contact for Geospatial Data/Workflow related issues and promptly resolve all matters so as to maintain availability, integrity and quality of interdependent reporting data across BHPB
    - Provide technical and strategic advice to management on direction of GIS activities
    - Execute work programs to ensure key deliverables are met

    Relationship management and engagement
    - Participate in business partnership support for the global GIS platform
    - Seeks frequent feedback on systems and processes for Continuous Improvement
    - Works alongside leading edge vendors and system integrators to continuously improve the Geospatial Technical Landscape

Bachelor's degree required, Masters or equivalent experience is preferred.
Specific training or education in geography, surveying, or geomatics required
Exp ertise in A rcSDE for Oracle and SQL is required

Professional training in GIS tools and applications (ArcSDE, Safe FME, ArcServer, Python, GeoCortex, Web App Builder) is Required
Knowledge of change management and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) is desirable

  • A minimum of 10-15 years relevant professional experience, with a minimum of 10 years' experience in Minerals and/or Petroleum
    * Experience in GIS tools development, and deployment within a Global business environment essential.
    * Effective relationship management skills
    * Experience working individually and as a team with minimal direction depending on experience
    * Good oral and written communication skills; ability to discuss technical information with peers
    * Brings high energy levels and constructive, positive cultural values to the team
    * Ability to follow leadership but remain flexible to situational priorities

Spanish - desirable
