Key Accountabilities

• Manage the LAN & Wireless Engineering team, ensuring all staff are productive, performing, and appropriately skilled
• Accountable for the creation and safe maintenance of the overall LAN & Wireless plans to support the organisation's business strategy
• Manages the development of policies and strategies to ensure all the performance measures of network infrastructure meet the needs of the business
• Provides elevated technical support to operational and projects teams
• Develops, operates and maintains BHP Billiton's network to ensure efficient, reliable and productive system landscapes
• Monitors progress against agreed KPIs. Initiates, develops and monitors effective performance management processes. Provides organisational leadership and guidance to promote the development and exploitation of specialist knowledge with the team.
• Develop & maintain the service catalogue for LAN & Wireless services
• Provide technical SMEs to support any projects executed by O&I Projects
• Perform hardware asset management for all devices in LAN & Wireless
• Execution of all proactive Service Management processes within LAN & Wireless (e.g. problem management, change management, capacity management, etc.)
• Builds long-term, strategic relationships with senior stakeholders and IT vendors
• Manage all budget and financial matters related to LAN & Wireless

• Understanding of Network & Wireless technologies and industry trends, including switching, 802.11x, meshed networks, SDN, LTE, and how to apply them at scale

• Bachelor Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent
• Cisco Certified Network Professional


• Minimum 7 years experience in the IT industry
• Background in building and operating enterprise LAN & Wireless networks
• Experience of contracting, recontracting, or insourcing network & telecommunications networks & services
• Experience with cost center management, plan, budget and forecast, manage capital expenditures and operational expenses to minimize variances.
