Job Description:

Primary Function The Project Manager is responsible for engaging in the planning, execution of work procedures, scheduling, management, and maintenance of modernization projects and budgets through conforming to customer and company requirements as related to quality improvements, safety, cost improvement and customer satisfaction in support of the project's objectives. He/She has responsibility for managing, coaching and training field employees as well as health and safety requirements. Responsibilities Safety and SupervisionLead field employees through providing mentorship, guidance and constructive feedback to promote employee developmentCoach and persuade field employees on Schindler's methods of safety, quality and productivityIdentify training needs and deliver training (safety & technical), in conjunction with the Chief Engineer, to field employeesMonitor work of field employees from both a quantitative and qualitative point of view, including approval of time tickets and maintenance of vacation schedulesInvestigate employee incidents and near misses, and support early and safe return to work initiatives. Conduct regular safety observations and ensure correct usage of PPE. Project PlanningActively manage the project to ensure that project outputs are being delivered on schedule, to budget and to the required quality, all in alignment with contractual commitments, and terms and conditionsPartner with Chief Engineer to meet project execution NA and execute work procedures, including project scheduling and resource planningCoordinate various phases of new installation schedule to prevent delaysMonitor and update SAP and Project Planner to ensure all major project milestones are metCoordinate procurement of parts and materials, and track delivery to ensure timely arrival at jobsite Financial ManagementPrepare and monitor budgets, and control project costEnsure project billings are current and accurate, and review supplier invoices to ensure accuracy and coding to proper accountsIssue and review change orders, and ensure additional work is properly completedForecast monthly revenue, monthly financial reporting and client invoicingPrepare and take the lead on the MPEX project reporting Health and Safety, and CommunicationDocument health and safety requirements on a project level and communicate accordinglyConfer with supervisory personnel and provide direction to field techniciansPrepare and send project documents and correspondenceMaintain all documentation required by Schindler Policies and TSSA Customer ServiceInterpret customer concerns and mobilize the necessary internal resources in such a way that customer satisfaction is assured while costs are minimizedEnsure customer needs or enquiries are met in a prompt, professional manner by providing clear communicationsServe as a Company representative at regular site meetings, and maintain project documentation and correspondence with customerInterpret project specifications through communication with customers both internal and external including architects, general contractors and other trades Technical SupportInspect work in progress to ensure installation conforms to specifications and adheres to modernization schedulesConsult with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve issuesConfer with employees, inspectors and third party suppliers to resolve problems and improve modernization methodsEnsure action is taken to correct regulatory directives within timeframe allowed Process Management, Reporting and AdministrationPlan, monitor and control regulatory submission process to meet project schedulePrepare various sales/analysis reports and presentationsPrepare operation and maintenance manualsDevelop and maintain safe and streamlined work procedures and systems KnowledgeBSc. in Engineering or related experienceCertification in Project Management, and/or Project Management experience Critical SkillsProficient in MS Office and MS Project requiredKnowledge of SAP reporting functionsKnowledge of project management web-tools, ie. e-builder, E-ConstructionCommunication: Excellent verbal and written communication skillsCustomer Service: Demonstrate customer focus through improving performanceLeadership: Possess solid leadership skillsPeople Management: Ability to select, train, supervise and evaluate staffPersuasion: Persuasion is required both internally and externally.
