Our Rail Industry Client is currently recruiting for Skilled Maintenance Fitters to operate out of their depot based in West Yorkshire.
The role is to undertake major refurbishment of Loco Diesel Engines (12-16 cylinder units)
Successful candidates will be required to work as part of a shift system, flexibility is essential.
Please note; all candidates are required to undertake a drugs and alcohol related medical.
Candidates must be flexible in their approach and reliable as the depot operates 24/7 and runs a shift system
All suitable candidates put forward for this role will undergo a basic pre-qualification test and then interview. Those that are successful and being offered a role will be required to undertake the Drugs & Alcohol Test. The offer will be dependent on successful screening and references being taken.
Candidates must be flexible in their approach and reliable as the depot operates 24/7.
1. Scope of Work
Knowledge of exam maintenance regards to the length / duration of exams.
Advising the Team Leaders of completed maintenance and defects found on locomotives.
Recording information on exam signing off sheets, the ability to understand data displayed in TOPS and Spear and the safety implications of any tasks carried out.
Computer literacy and a good mechanical understanding required.
Awareness of depot geography and safety procedures following the loco simplifier and allocating locomotives to specific diagrams
2. Duties and responsibilities.
Responsible to instruct drivers on arrival, where the locomotive's need to be stabled
Establish what maintenance is required by interrogate TOPS and SPEAR
Carry out maintenance to the exam pattern determined by TOPS
Report to Team Leaders of any repairs that fall outside of your routine maintenance
Report all completed maintenance in Tops, and fill out the relevant paperwork
Record all Material and part numbers on exam paperwork.
Strategically positioning locomotives for easy departure following the loco simplifier
Instruct drivers on what locomotives are available for service
Contact control on a regular basis to run through locomotive stop positions and availability
Complete a depot layout sheet at the end of every shift; this must then be passed onto the next shift Team Leader
Leave work area tidy at the end of the shift, briefly run through outstanding workload with next shift
