Job Description: TECHNICAL DIRECTOR, STRUCTURES/BRIDGES|
Reporting to the Portfolio Director, you will part of the senior management with the challenge to significantly grow and improve the business the civils/structures/bridges team in Scotland by developing a growth strategy in identifying and developing business opportunities and to work collaboratively with our other offices across the UK and Ireland. The role will be challenging, demanding, varied and offer excellent opportunities for skill set and career development.
Your Next Challenge
Act as a Project Manager/Team Leader in design, construction supervision and project management
Attend design meetings, site meetings and all other project related meetings
Be responsible for project budgeting, project finance management, project performance and yearly financial targets.
Participate in fee proposals, technical bids and preparation of presentation slides
Be part of business development team, develop client relationship and attend business related functions.
Lead a team of technical staff and be responsible for staff management, development and technical excellence
Be responsible for the development of technical skills for the team and company
The ideal candidate will have:
20 years total experience with at least 15 years' post chartered experience with strong technical ability in respective structures and bridge engineering discipline, member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (MICE).
Aptitude and appetite for technical coaching of principal/senior/chartered engineers, ideally active in some institution/record of publishing papers.
Design and Build experience of working with Contractors
Developing new and maintaining excellent client relationships
Hands on experience of design to British Standards and Eurocodes in steel and concrete
Working knowledge of structural design software such as STAAD, Robot, SAM, and in the use of BIM technology.
Experience of delivery of rail, road and utility projects
Experience of working in UK civil engineering environment and involvement in the full project lifecycle, including budget / finance control
Proven team leading experience
Experience working in or with a multi-disciplinary design consultancy
Ambition to develop, build and lead a structures/bridges team
A strong technical focus
Capability to work to deadlines and work autonomously when required
Ability to work and collaborate with different stakeholders and nationalities effectively in a fast paced environment where priorities change quickly
Good interpersonal skills and presentation skills
Be proactive, high energy, quality oriented and have a high sense of accountability
Knowledge of using MS Office
Excellent command of spoken and written English
