A major contractor are urgently recruiting for a Environment & Sustainability Manager to work with them in their Redhill offices.|
*Lead and manage the overally capability, development, deployment and performance of the sustainability delivery team for the Business Unit
*Liaise with key business unit customers to understand their sustainability needs and how best to deliver against them
*Produced sustainability reports externally for customers and internally for the business unit as required
*Programme manage the implementation of UK Sustainability activities within the BU by translating UK sustainability policies, standards & targets into an BU specific action plan
*Ensure effective Sustainability governance through the BU Sustainability working groups
*Provide sustainability expertise to the BU leadership, work winning, project and operational teams in order to support business decisions in line with UK sustainability activities
*Support the BU by ensuring structured visits to projects, contracts and regional offices by members of the Sustainability team.
*Working with the Head of Sustainability for Delivery & Development, lead the sustainability performance management and reporting for the BU, analysing trends to build improvement and produce monthly reports against a range of key metrics
*Utilise the findings from reporting data, assessments, external and internal audits to drive sustainability action plans and inform key business decisions.
*Support work winning in responding to bespoke sustainability questions and promoting sustainability innovation
*Ensure that the Sustainability Managers work with BU leadership teams to ensure appropriate community investment, through the Involved programme, is included within work winning and project delivery - seeking support from the functions as required
*Feed into the business stream's communications plan with sustainability content and use communications and improvements to engage staff on an on-going basis.
Personal qualities and experience;
*Exceptional communication and relationship management skills are required, coupled with a strong ability to influence through others and support/coach the business stream leadership where necessary.
*Comprehensive knowledge and experience of Sustainability and how it practically impacts on the 'built environment', including experience of whole life costing
*The individual will be comfortable managing experts in sustainability (carbon, water, waste, materials & responsible sourcing, ecology, social value, community engagement, BREEAM, CEEQUAL) and potentially has expertise in one or more areas of sustainability
*Programme management experience with a structured approach to organising and documenting progress
*Strong influencing skills, along with budget management experience
The following qualities and experience are desirable:
*Member of the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment
*Relevant environmental or sustainability degree
*Some experience of working with government departments influencing new legislation.
*Experience of working with regulators.
*Experience of identifying and anticipating sustainability trends, business drivers and UK and global sustainability issues.
