The key focus is on customers / developers and working with them to ensure their fibre installation are delivered on time and meet their requirements. This includes managing the installation, testing commissioning of fibre mains, services, and associated equipment in accordance with BUUK company procedures together with providing training and advice on the technical requirements of installing fibre networks and associated connections to internal and external customers and stakeholders.
The Technical Expert - Fibre will also be responsible for Health and Safety matters relating to the Installation and Commissioning of the Fibre Networks.
Main Responsibilities are:
Owning the client / developer / customer and providing a proactive service
Attend the site start and progress meetings taking necessary meeting notes and progression of actions. This also includes briefing the IFNL technical standards to customers and stakeholders.
The management of assigned resources on site to deliver specific work packages to ensure safe delivery of fibre connections, to time, quality and cost.
Develop effective relationships with the developer / client site supervisor, and be a dedicated point of contact to quickly resolve issues and to proactively update with progress.
Communicate the day to day programme with the client site team, ensuring all necessary safety briefings are carried out and recorded.
Project management of the Fibre 'backhaul' connection and liaison with upstream network operators and/or contractors to ensure sites are commissioned on time and to budget.
Liaise and co-ordinate with the chosen electricity supplier for installation of the electricity meter to the OSCP.
Liaise and co-ordinate with suppliers, contractors and the National Operations Centre (NOC) to facilitate the installation and commissioning of the equipment contained in the OSCP.
Provide advice and undertake inspection of domestic and commercial wiring including television cabling where applicable to ensure properties are wired to be compatible with our technical standards.
Pre vetting and post inspection of the works completed by the developer on our behalf ensuring that all works comply with BUUK company standards.
Ensuring that the Fibre assets are constructed as designed, in accordance with applicable standards and are compliant with the relevant BUUK standards for adoption;
Manage subcontractors by evaluating quality and construction performance and report to Construction Manager as necessary.
Undertake quality and construction audits on assets installed to be adopted by BUUK.
Ensure all operations standards are met by direct and subcontractor resource and compliance with NRSWA requirements where necessary.
Raise corrective action reports on all noncompliance issues on the relevant quality systems and follow up remedial works as necessary in coordination with the Construction Manager.
Ensure as laid records are received in a timely manner, checking as laid records to ensure BUUK assets have been recorded correctly.
Ensuring that the correct materials and plant are arranged,available and suitably stored
Ensuring that the correct materials are available and works are coordinated at all times to minimise construction costs and maximise efficiency.
Liaison with the heat team to ensure that heat assets requiring fibre connections for metering or control purposes are designed and installed effectively.
Identification of contract scope variations in advance and where appropriate negotiate with customer representatives and seek approval from the Project Managers to ensure the business is commercially rewarded.
Provide training and advice on the installation and commissioning of fibre networks.
Provide accurate quality work within the department and company.
Be readily contactable during normal hours
Maintain a helpful and informative work environment.
Assist the Construction Manager in the development of greater efficiency within the company.
Ensure that all relevant information is recorded accurately and submitted on time.
Any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Construction Manager.
Comply with the latest company procedures, legislation and industry skills on all aspects of day-to-day work.
The incumbent may be asked to work as part of utility team working on site at times.
Must hold a full valid driving licence
Must be eligible to work in the UK
Must be flexible and willing to travel to sites as required
