£15p/h Ltd - 50 hours per week contracted - Monday to Friday Day Shift - 6 Month Contract with project length expected to be 2-3 years - Immediate Start
This family owned company are now being run by the third generation specialise in the manufacture of food ingredients and other food stuffs used by a variety of wholesalers, manufacturers and consumers. With a group turnover approaching £60m they employ 500 people, many with over a decade's service. In 2014 they established a spin off company to provide engineering solutions both to their own facilities but also to external customers. This business has grown from zero to a turnover in excel of £1m less than one year. This role has been created to grow their team to accept more work that they are currently turning away!
What the role will involve:
This is an incredibly varied role! You could be fabricating or repairing machinery, through to building new bespoke systems for clients. Typically though this role will involve:
Working from a set of engineering drawings you will be fabricating and welding structural and non-structural steel - weld thicknesses vary from 2mm to 20mm.
Mechanical fitting - this could be stripping down old machinery and replacing broken or worn parts, through to assembling hand rails using a spanner!
Potentially taking completed projects on to site and installing them - travel will be less than 20% of the time, and most of it will be local to site.
Getting involved in internal projects - installing new machinery, re-furbing existing machinery etc.
What the company are looking for in the contractor:
80% of this role involved TIG welding and fabricating - so a welding background is essential!
15% is mechanical fitting - so experience of stripping down machinery, understanding mechanisms, assemblies etc is also key.
Working in a medium to heavy engineering environment.
Can read engineering drawings.
