Fantastic opportunity for senior Project Planners to deliver a Programme Controls Planning and EVM service to projects, whilst coaching, mentoring and task-managing.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Accountable for the sign-off of deliverables produced by the Programme Planner and EVM and Project Planning
Assistant in the appropriate business area
Accountable for task-management of the planner and EVM and Project Planning Assistant in the appropriate business area
Accountable for continuously improving ways of working across the business area Planning team
Accountable for developing and maintaining relationships with the project team, integrated with the Senior Risk Specialist and Senior Project Cost Engineer and Project Controls Manager
Accountable for ensuring the quality of the Planning deliverables in accordance with associated policies, procedures and guidelines
Accountable for leading and integrating the Planning deliverables, including:
• Work breakdown structure
• Resource loading
• Project level IMS (Integrated Master Schedule)
• Project-specific basis of scheduling documents

Accountable for leading and integrating the input into the month-end process including:
• Updating schedule progress
• Undertaking schedule forecasting
• Updating milestone status and critical path analysis
• Undertaking schedule performance reviews including variance analysis
• Accountable for coaching and mentoring Planners and Assistant Planners
• Accountable for managing and developing the team in accordance with company policies, processes and guidelines

• Responsible for providing Planning input to:
• Investment approval and Change Control process
• Risk and Opportunity process
• Peer reviews
• Responsible for the creation of standard fragnets and input into the updating and improvement of the fragnet library
• Responsible for facilitating interactive Planning sessions
• Responsible for the production of Planning deliverables in accordance with the appropriate procedures and guidelines
• Responsible for proposing solutions and workarounds to address schedule performance issues
• Responsible for personal workload and ensuring all deadlines are met
• Responsible for undertaking other duties as reasonably required from time to time by line and task management
• Responsible for maintaining and promoting high personal standards in line with the company's environmental, safety,
health, security, quality and ethics standards

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Knowledge and experience of using best practice Planning processes and tools in a complex, project environment
Knowledge and understanding of forms of contract, e.g. NEC3, GC Works
Knowledge and understanding of confidence modelling processes and techniques
Experience of using Earned Value Management processes and procedures
Experience of coaching and mentoring others
Experience of developing and maintaining effective relationships
Competent in independent assurance - The ability to undertake an independent assessment of the evidence file
supporting an investment, and to make appropriate recommendations
Competent in performance analysis - The ability to analyse different types of performance data and provide insight and recommendation on performance, e.g. earned value, performance forecasting
Working towards expert competence in project planning - The ability to create and maintain a project plan in order to manage a project throughout its lifecycle
Working towards competence in requirements management - The ability to capture requirements and assumptions with associated acceptance criteria
Competent in risk, Issue & Opportunity Management - the ability to objectively identify and analyse the impact of risks and opportunities to the organisation. This includes qualitative and quantitative assessment
Working towards competence in project estimating - The ability to create a project estimate, based on scope, technical specification and sources of cost information
Working towards competence in project cost engineering - The ability to utilise cost engineering techniques to manage and control project costs throughout its lifecycle
Working towards expert competence in EVM - The ability to apply Earned Value Management tools and techniques to interpret associated inputs and metrics; providing timely insight and recommendations on project and programme performance
Working towards competence in long range planning - The ability to create and maintain a long range plan to enable comprehensive and realistic forecasting, providing a sound basis for management decision making
Competent in Business Modelling - The ability to use statistical modelling techniques to provide confidence in business plans and processes

• Degree or HND / HNC in appropriate business or technical discipline preferable, or a proven level of experience
• Project Management qualification (e.g. APMP) preferable
• Membership, or working towards membership, of relevant professional body (e.g. APM, PMI) preferable
Special Requirements
• Willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role
