JOB TITLE : Purchasing / Procurement Assistant|
GRADE : U92 (Management Grade).
DEPARTMENT : Unipart Aftermarket Logistics (UAL), HSS Contract
LOCATION : Cowley based with occasional business travel requirements.
Reporting directly into the Senior Purchasing Manager with responsibility for the Technical and Purchasing businesses with key deliverables relating to the optimisation of the business:-
Working to manage and implement cost saving projects within the group of businesses.
Positively Impacting Piece Price, Inventory and Service to maintain effectiveness and productivity defined by KPI's.
Drive key projects to implementation taking into account the deliverables of piece price cost reduction to remain within SLA's and the team's business scope.
Lead teams for technical and supplier evaluation to achieve 'sign off phase' for each project to ensure relevant documentation is held on file, validated and accredited.
Demonstrate Stake Holder Management to gain 'buy in' and confidence of the project attributes and timing in favour of the business group through presentation of the project and the business case.
Justification of cost/pricing queries generated, to manage and resolve to make agreement in line with business objectives.
Negotiate with Suppliers to reduce, avoid, defer or re-source products where a negative cost impact, or instability of supply is identified.
Identify opportunities for data cleansing within the system to ensure accuracy of pricing data and reduce queries.
Review volume spares or high cost spares for additional price reduction.
From time to time to fulfil additional short term resource needs to complete tasks in line with the business requirements and objectives within the team or neighbouring teams.
Additional scope and growth of the business:- where additional objectives, SLA's are set and need to be delivered short term or long term.
Drive cost down without negatively impacting inventory, service or quality.
Manage and deliver projects with a high level of competency and confidence.
Support the business and product, demonstrating value add and business acumen.
Proactive reduction of spares piece price:- material, process, packaging and freight.
Manage negotiations with suppliers at all levels in line with the business targets.
Sharing of best practice within the business groups to align equipment and spares processes.
Manage KPI's for communication within the business's 'Communication Cell'.
MONITORING AND MEASURING
Analyse and report on daily/weekly/monthly management of queries showing cost movements and annualised impact for review, KPI's and 'Communication Cell'.
Provide visibility on performance results in a closed loop structure:- estimated and delivered.
Responsible for effective two way communication within the immediate team.
Capable of cross-team management to make an effective delivery mechanism.
Capable of showing and driving initiative within one-self and others to achieve objectives.
3rd party Suppliers and Service Providers.
Clients & business partners of Unipart internal and external.
Management within neighbouring teams and groups.
COMPETENCIES, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
2 + Years Purchasing and Commodity Management experience preferably within the Automotive or Industrial Sectors.
Experience of working within new start-up operations or changing environments where the need to promote seamless process flows.
High capability of forming working teams and groups to take lead and drive problem and solution.
Motivational aspects showing drive, energy and belief in the participation of the function.
Application of the Unipart Way tools and techniques ensuring the standards are applied and issues followed through to completion.
Project management from inception to implementation in a controlled and timely manner.
Educated to degree level or CIPS accreditation.
