Job Description
Raytheon International Inc., India (RII India) is seeking a Business Development Director, responsible for growing Raytheon's business in India. The BD Director will represent Raytheon's portfolio of products and services to the Indian Ministry of Defense, military services, the broader government of India and current and potential Indian industry partners. It is expected that the BD Director will be able to operate at both senior and working levels of the Indian government. The BD Director is responsible for identifying, qualifying and developing new opportunities, maturing existing opportunities through to contract, and assisting with after sale support as necessary. This position is located in New Delhi, India and will be a member of the Raytheon country team reporting to the India Country Leader.

The BD Director will serve as the voice of the customer to internal Raytheon stakeholders, while partnering with those stakeholders - business development, product line and functional leaders across the enterprise - to evaluate customer insights and market dynamics to support the implementation and refinement of Raytheon's enterprise-wide strategy for the Indian market. It is expected that the BD Director will regularly update Raytheon stakeholders with customer needs assessments, market data, competitive intelligence, opportunity identification and development status, and key pursuit milestones.

This position requires an overarching familiarity of Raytheon's suite of mission capabilities/products and a solid network within the Indian government, military and industry. It is expected that the BD Director will institute an internal Raytheon network to enable reach back for product and service knowledge and support. The BD Director is expected to develop and maintain customer contact and engagement plans and, in concert with the Country Leader, establish an enterprise-level approach to managing customer relationships.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 15-20 years of experience with progressive leadership positions within the Indian Government or strong Indian Aerospace Industry Business Development or Defense Sales expertise.
  • Direct knowledge of and excellent working relationships with the Indian customer set and industry players.
  • Demonstrated capability to identify emerging Indian requirements and how to position and guide Raytheon stakeholders to opportunity closure.
  • Strong understanding of customer culture, political and military norms, sensitivities and hot buttons.
  • Strong understanding of the Indian MoD Defense Procurement Procedures (DPP), and fiscal and regulatory environment as well as any and all interagency connectivity.
  • Strong understanding of India's offset requirements and ability to translate such requirements into strategic industrial partnering concepts and/or proposals in collaboration with Raytheon stakeholders.
  • Act as an ombudsman/independent corporate channel to obtain customer feedback regarding program execution and pursuit activities.
  • Excellent English skills (both oral, written); ability to succinctly report internally and routinely correspond with Indian government via letters/faxes, reports and white papers.
  • Ability to speak/write/communicate in the local language
  • Exposure to and general knowledge of US ITAR requirements
  • Exposure to and general knowledge of the US FMS process

Desired Skills:
  • Master's degree or relevant direct experience
  • Previous Indian military or MoD experience as a mid-senior officer or senior civil service positions.
  • Experience communicating with and presenting to senior military officers or business executives.
  • Proven ability to develop effective internal and external relationships through personal influence, proactive, responsive, consistent and persistent interaction.
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of business operations and financial metrics.
  • Exhibits high degree of self-awareness, integrity, honesty and trustworthiness
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
