What is the purpose of the role?
Working as the Smart Metering Technical Lead, you will be responsible for providing specialist advice on our metering assets and ensure that our smart metering programme puts assets at the heart of its delivery plans. You will deliver outstanding asset and technical advice and recommendations that support the delivery of Thames Water's Metering Programme outputs in-year, in-AMP and beyond.

The Lead will:
Develop and deliver a metering asset management system (and have experience applied to organisations with technical asset bases).
Provide good-practice, innovative and future-proofed ideas to asset management processes and systems, such as ISO55000.
Have the ability to define requirements and work with IT providers to deliver, test and use asset management systems.
Carry out research into existing and new metering technology/metering data uses; carry out analysis and prepare papers as required, incorporating the views of other stakeholders as appropriate.
Develop proposals for pilots of new technology and/or ways of working and provide recommendations to enable implementation of the proposals.
Provide relevant and effective financial/ operational data analysis and interpretation.
Provide expert advice to help influence and inform colleagues/managers on operational decisions.
Conduct modelling, interpretation and forecasting of the metering asset data. Working closely with colleagues in other functions at all levels, provide insight and challenge into the operational and process owner teams or project managers.
Analyse the benefits (cost and other) and concerns of new technologies and ways of working on the outputs of the Smart and Existing Metering Programme.
Help lead the Metering Asset & Strategy Team to become a Centre of expertise and knowledge.
We are looking for a graduate or equivalent who has considerable experience in an asset management or comparable environment and possess strong numerical and analytical skills. The ideal candidate will have a background in an industry or organisation with an extensive asset base. Metering (in particular smart metering) asset experience is desirable but not essential. This role is based at Bulman Court in Langley, near Slough. We are offering a salary of £38,000 to £45,000, depending on skills and experience.
