Owned by a German multi-national company this UK based business design and manufacture bespoke special purpose machinery that is used in a variety of industries including medical, FMCG manufacturing as well as every engineering sector - from ship building to toy manufacturing! They remain at the forefront of their market because they spend in excess of £20m a year in research and development of new and existing products. As a result of developing a new range of products we are currently looking to recruit two engineers to design, build and install special purpose machinery to test the new products after they have been built.
What the role will involve:
Taking specifications/test procedures and understanding what equipment and functionality needs to be in the machinery and then designing the machine to fit.
Some of this equipment can weigh up to a tonne and contain three phase electrical control and distribution, cooling systems, camera's, spectrum analysers, instrumentation, PLC's as well as safety systems and interlocking mechanisms.
Once the design has been completed and purchasing have bought all of the components you will be building the machinery - including panel wiring, basic mechanical assembly (installing pre-built systems and modules).
Overseeing and getting involved the installation and commissioning of the machinery and training some of the operators who will be using it on a day to day basis.
Completing all relevant documentation.
Approximately 60% of the role is hands off and 40% is hands on.
60-70% of the role is electrical and 20% is mechanical and 10-20% is electronics.
What the company are looking for in the contractor:
Machinery design background - electrical biased with some mechanical understanding.
Hands on background - experience in building machinery or have a hands on hobby - i.e restoration of cars or motorbikes.
Willing to travel to the midlands once a week.
Good communication skills - as they will be liaising with different departments including draughting, operations and purchasing.
