Our client is a large and well established main building contractor, looking to recruit an experienced Document Controller on a permanent basis, initially heavily involved in a major build project in the Newport area.

As Document Controller, your roles and responsibilities will include:

- Set up, management and administration of the CDE
- Management of workflows. You must therefore understand how workflows operate
- Understand and work to a suite of documents for document control, ensuring other members follow them as well
- Run and distribute reports, and chase outstanding actions from stakeholders
- You will not be uploading documents on behalf of other users, as a matter of course. However, there may be some instances where you many need to. You will be ensuring the correct users have been notified. Understanding of transmittals is a must.
- Understand naming protocols
- Collation/liaising with external company for H&S/O&M files
- Maintenance of central drawings files and registers, if applicable
- Manage and host Viewpoint For Projects training sessions with the project team, either as a group or on an individual basis
- Act as main point of contact for support for project users of VfP
- Attend meetings to encourage engagement of team and stakeholders, and to gain knowledge of progression of project
- Identify and communicate design/document/process opportunities and risks to Project Manager
- Possible cover of administrative duties for holiday/sickness cover

This role would suit an individual with the following skills and experience:
- Viewpoint for Projects experience preferred
- Intermediate Excel experience (at least)
- Understanding of workflows
- Ability and willingness to train others
- Understanding of security groups and protocols
