Assistant Design Manager
Location: - Birmingham
Contract Length: - 2+ months (possible extension)
Rates: - £20 - £23/hr. (37.5hrs./week)
Start Date: ASAP
An Assistant Design Manager is required to work on a major construction project for Carillion Building. You will be based in Birmingham City Centre and work with other main site contractors in delivery design management.
Responsibilities will include:

*Able to establish project needs, including resources and deliverables, and to use these to develop a project delivery strategy and plan workloads for others
*Able to negotiate; to find common ground with others and move projects forward obtaining an outcome which is in the interest of WSP|PB, our clients and acceptable to all parties
*Experienced in managing teams, setting group and individual objectives and providing support
*Regardless of the individual project role, candidates should understand and be experienced in applying the principles and processes of project management as commonly expressed by APM, Prince2 etc.
*Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to identify, classify and find solutions to problems.
*Candidates should understand how to capture and manage risks and opportunities, develop mitigation measures to ensure risks are minimised and opportunities are maximised.
*Candidates should understand business principles and be able to demonstrate how they have applied this to the management of projects
*Candidates should be able to adapt their leadership approach to get the best out of individuals and organisations.
*Demonstrate being open minded with the willingness to learn and explore new ideas outside their own experience and adapt these to their own situation.
*Demonstrate the highest professional ethical standards.
*Whilst candidates are expected to have an in depth knowledge of their core profession, they are also expected to demonstrate a broad understanding of design disciplines and the key interfaces between them;
*Experience of delivering projects across various sectors is important. Candidates should be able to discuss and understand the key drivers for different sectors.
*Experience of preparing and presenting tenders to clients as well as an interest in business development and work winning.
You must have significant experience in technical building design, 1 to 3 years construction industry experience and ideally have knowledge of 4 Projects/Viewpoint for projects.
