An experienced Quantity Surveyor is required to provide commercial support to regional & area infrastructure teams including value for money, risk management and cost estimations.

Key duties of the Quantity Surveyor include:

* Resource and stakeholder management
* Provide cost advice and support
* Ensure contract processes and procedures are adhered to at all times
* Attend risk meetings, review risk registers and follow risk management processes
* Identify business priorities and plan work effectively, by building controls and milestones into plans and programmes
* Comply with business policy and procedures, supporting continual improvement
* Explore future possibilities and opportunities for improvement, support change initiatives and identify alternative solutions
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, sustainability, quality and other statutory requirements
* Ensure Security and Fraud prevention systems and processes are adhered to at all times
* Support Health and Safety best practice and safety excellence

Quantity Surveyor typical activities:

* Liaise closely with site and area management teams, DIO and End Users to build effective relationships
* Ensure the Area teams are fully aware at all times of its responsibilities, obligations and limitations under the service delivery contract
* Support teams by communicating effectively, providing commercial guidance to stakeholders, instilling confidence in others to make their own decisions.
* Provide advice and guidance to staff in the preparation and presentation of works proposals, reviews and updates
* Obtain commitment from others by persuading, convincing and negotiation. Manage stakeholders utilising experience to negotiate in line with business goal requirements
* Support operational teams with guidance on contract particulars
* Assist Commercial Managers with dispute avoidance and any dispute resolution
* Deliver Change Management, ensuring timescales are met by all relevant stakeholders
* Management and resolution of queries submitted by Supply Chain regarding pricing
* Maintain commercial control to enable planned milestone payments are achieved
* Monitor and review Supply Chain performance
* Manage supplier payments in line with contractual and company policy
* Assist in the development and implementation of commercial risk management procedures
* Attend meetings, provide reports and liaise with all stakeholders on commercial matters
* Assist Commercial & Risk Manager in preparing dispute avoidance strategy and any dispute resolution
* Assist Commercial & Risk Manager in monitoring and presenting monthly cost reports as required to high level of accuracy

Quantity Surveyor expected competencies/qualifications:

* Commercial experience in construction, property maintenance or related field including:

* Developing cost models
* Risk Analysis & Management
* Preparation of work proposals/tenders
* Dispute resolution

* Excellent working knowledge of commercial processes
* Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
* Awareness of fraud prevention activities
* Ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships and a collaborative working environment
* Understanding of how to reduce utility consumption
* Ability and willingness to travel
* Qualified to HND/Foundation Degree level in Quantity Surveying or significant equivalent experience
* Health & Safety Awareness Training
