Salary: up to £36,000
My client is currently looking to recruit an experienced Java Developer to contribute to the effective function of the Web Development team and wider AIS department through helping to develop, maintain and enhance the businesses Java-based website delivery systems.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Development analysing and understanding requirements, design, development and debugging of new and existing Java code to support the businesses Java-based systems. Ongoing development and support of existing functionality alongside developing new features or enhancements to the businesses back-end web application systems.
Front-End Web Development an understanding of front-end web development is a key part of this role; supporting Web Developers in implementation of new features when required.
Availability & Scalability The Web Content Management System underpins nearly all the businesses websites, and as such it is vital that high availability and performance scalability is designed into any new development from the start.
Support & Maintenance maintaining and supporting existing websites through administration of the underlying Polopoly Content Management System involving deployment of changes, monitoring the environment, and working with other AIS teams to ensure a reliable service is maintained.
Technical Awareness remain abreast of industry trends and new technologies; identifying and suggesting new and emerging technologies, approaches or tools for consideration which could bring benefit to the Company or improve efficiencies within business processes etc.
To be considered for the role you must have experience across:
Java Web application programming.
Experience of developing high-performance web applications.
Will ideally have experience of Apache Lucene and/or Solr
Will ideally have experience of Python programming Knowledge/skills
Familiarity with Apache Tomcat & JBoss.
Familiarity with Subversion (SVN) or similar.
Familiarity with Apache Ant or Maven.
Familiarity with managing, tuning & configuring Java environments running on Windows or Linux.
