This is an exciting opportunity to work with the largest generator specialist in the South West. They are seeking a Workshop Generator Engineer to work on large generators out of their depot in Bristol. This is a permanent position.|
You will be responsible for the service, maintenance and overall upkeep and appearance of large containerised generators (500 Kva and above) for our client's rental fleet, ensuring manufacturers recommended service schedules are followed.
You will carry out engine rebuilds / repairs (15Ltr - 60Ltr) to various manufacturers engines i.e Perkins, Cummins etc.
You will provide general assistance in the yard, including loading and offloading equipment.
You will drive a fork lift in the yard as required. (training given if required).
You will deliver and collect generators and ancillary equipment using appropriate company vehicles where required, including refuelling.
You will carry out servicing and repairs to our clients and customer's equipment off site as and when required.
You will carry out duties on our clients on call rota system.
You will comply with the Company Health and Safety Policy, including carrying out general housekeeping to ensure work areas are tidy. This includes company vehicles.
Finally, you will comply with all aspects of the company ISO 9001:2008, ISO14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001: 2007 procedures, proactively contributing to the company's continuous improvement programme.
Knowledge and Skills:
You will be an accomplished Generator Engineer with experience in servicing, maintaining and the overall upkeep and appearance of large containerised generators (500 Kva and above).
You will have experience of engine rebuilds / repairs (15Ltr - 60Ltr) to various manufacturers' engines Ideally you will be familiar with Perkins, Cummins engines etc.
Your practical experience should ideally be supported by a relevant qualification in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering / Diesel Fitting / Plant i.e. City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent, OR to have served/completed an approved apprenticeship in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering.
Our client will also consider candidates with proven experience servicing and repairing of large diesel engines.
You will possess good fault finding abilities.
You should be a keen team player with a focus on providing excellent customer service, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
You should be familiar with health and safety procedures as they relate to the work of a Generator Engineer and have experience of working to risk assessment and method statements
You should be of a clean smart appearance.
NB. The Nature of our work requires DBS checks to be carried out and any offer is dependent on satisfactory references being obtained
Salary will be in a range of between £24,000 and £25,000pa depending upon experience. In addition, there will be overtime available. Benefits include 23 days' holiday plus bank holidays, company pension scheme (currently 3%), private medical scheme and life assurance scheme.
